Holidays to Turkler don't complicate things – comfy beds, the beach, and boat trips are the focus of this lesser-known resort.
Turkler is the shrinking violet of the Turkish Riviera. Set 20 kilometres west of Alanya, this place has always shied away from the spotlight, and the result is a stretch of coastline that’s un-crowded and low-key.
Like many resorts on Turkey’s southern coast, Turkler’s nerve centre is its shoreline. The half-mile beach here is a mixture of white sand and pebbles, and there are plenty of sunloungers to go around. Watersports are on offer if you want them, but you won’t be dodging jet-skis while you’re swimming.
Nightlife in Turkler is almost all hotel-based. A lot of the hotels are All Inclusive, so their offerings go beyond the 2.4 bars and restaurants. In any given hotel, you can choose from a list of international eateries before moving on to a cocktail bar and then the disco. If you’d rather go out, the town of Konakli is a 15-minute bus ride east. It’s no Ibiza Town, but it’s got a respectable amount of bars and one nightclub.
A regular bus service makes Turkler a great base for sightseeing. You can be in Alanya in half an hour, exploring the Red Tower. Plus, the Manavgat waterfalls are an hour away. If you’d rather carry out a coastal reconnaissance, boats leave from Turkler’s jetty every day, taking holidaymakers to some of the best snorkelling and swimming spots in the Mediterranean Sea.
