Best time to go to Sweden

The weather in Sweden’s a bit like the UK. It can be very mixed throughout the year, depending on what part of the country you go to, and when. Central and southern areas of Sweden are the most like the UK, with short cold winters and summer temperatures that hover around 25°C. The north of the country is a different story, with quite severe winter seasons, as well as snow on some of the mountains all year-round. The country also has very long hours of daylight in the summer and ultra-long nights in winter.

Passports & Visas

Health & Safety

You should take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover you while you’re away. If you’re travelling to the EU and you apply for a card now, you'll get a new UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) instead of an EHIC. This entitles you to emergency medical treatment on the same terms as Swedish nationals. It won’t, however, cover you for medical repatriation, ongoing medical treatment or non-urgent treatment.
