Writing this review while sitting in my hotel room of the Catalonia Hotel. I have travelled many places and stayed in many hotels and I have never come across such a ridiculous rule as 'you can not leave your sunbed for longer than 30 mins at a time '. Myself and friend went to b'fast only to return to a note stating this. So no swimming for longer than 30 mins or sitting by the bar or talking to someone away from your sunbed in fear of losing your bed. I'm sorry but I go on holiday to relax not get stressed out by some stupid rule.More
Stayed for a week with my wife on arrival we got an upgrade to a premium room so safe was free 🙂found the hotel clean and well looked after ok a bit dated maybe. Food was plentiful just be careful what you pick to eat we found any local Canarian dishes to be really nice. Staff always friendly and helpful. The area was quiet but I liked that (found a little bar just down the hill Frida's bar its a must visit). Entertainment was ok, the all inclusive did finish at 11 but hey that's ok. All in all loved our stay thanks to the staff for looking after us.More

Well our last day at the Hotel had a lovely weeks holiday with friends weather very good hotel very good and the staff are brilliant in all aspects food in the dining varied and we have enjoyed it. On the downside I was very annoyed with watching people handling food with there hands specially in the snack bar this wants addressing because if anything goes wrong the Hotel will get the blame not the unhygienic people touching the food please address this. Also someone wants to tell the Taxis drivers below to shut up at seven in the morning from talking very loud More
Great value for money
We have just returned form a 10 night All Inclusive stay. First for the down side this is a large busy hotel and meals are of the buffet variety and could be a bit frantic in the main restaurant however this was offset by the quality of the food and the choices available. There is a snack bar available at the poolside for breakfast and lunch and crepes for afternoon tea. Overall I found the staff to be polite and helpful and the rooms large enough. The pool area can be crowded but at our age we are happy to sit at a table so a sunbed was not our priority. The pool does run a strict towels on bed routine which I for one applauded. The range and scope of the AI was impressive there are coffee and soda drinks dispensers widely available alongside chilled water dispensers. The AI bar service does cease at 2300 drinks after this time have to be brought but there are free crisps, peanuts and olives available from the bar. There are some local bars and restaurants nearby and the bus service to the capital Santa Cruz takes 20 minutes and is frequent. We were impressed with the hotel so much so that we intend to return in the future bringing our teenage grandsons.More
A little disappointed
Got back just over a week ago and was waiting to hear from them about a problem with my breakfast on the last day. I found paper with dymo written on it in my yoghurt! That aside, here goes. The hotel was most probably lovely when it was new. Now in need of serious updating. Rooms:- very basic. Only one plug socket in the room and one in the bathroom. No drawers only wardrobe/cupboard. The beds were quite uncomfortable. The noise from the rooms around was quite loud. We had a couple of quite bad nights with a noisy woman having sex and then someone who’s snoring could take walls down. The maids were fairly good but it was apparent our floor had not been washed as my feet were black after a shower walking on it. Food:- this is one area that was ok. It looks a lot worse than it tastes. Most meat etc is slightly over cooked except for the morning bacon which was never cooked! The cakes were nice and a good choice of fruit. Again there is a need to update the dining area. Pool:- not heated so as the weather was at best inclement, we did not swim once. Although there is a sign about not reserving sun beds, people still did. If you want a spot in the sun get up early. If not, there are plenty of beds. The pool bar is good. The snack area is a bit yuk, the food is not covered so flies can get on it. The choice is a limited, but it is only for a snack. Staff and other areas:- overall the staff are friendly and helpful. The main reception is ok, clean and tidy. The bar is a bit drab and depressing and the same goes for the sports bar upstairs. Iit wasn’t an overly expensive holiday but I was quite dissapointed with my choice of venue. I should of gone to Los Cristianos were I’ve been on numerous occasions before.More
