View All DealsHolidays to Cala'n Porter give you a sandy beach, walking trails and entertaining evenings. And they bring you close to Menorca's unspoilt countryside and lively capital.
As far as settings go, Cala’n Porter has got itself a beauty on Menorca’s south coast. It sits high up on cliffs looking down onto a pretty bay in a protected nature area. You’ve got a fairly small place here – you can walk from end to end in 20 minutes – and most of the shops, bars and restaurants are right in the centre. It’s handily close to the capital, Mahon, too.
Around 200 steps take you down to the sandy beach – or there’s a leg-saving mini-train to get you there. The sheltering cliffs mean you’re in a real suntrap, while the sand slopes carefully into glittering turquoise waters, making it nice and safe for children. Sunloungers are available to rent, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants along the prom.
Cala’n Porter is geared up for families. Dotted around the place are children’s play areas where younger ones can let off steam, plus you’ve got a go-karting track, amusement park-style rides and tennis courts. And for family walks, there’s the Cami de Cavalls – a well-signposted route that takes you all over the island.
A 20-minute drive takes you to Alaior. The maze of narrow streets is filled with lovely little shops, bars, restaurants and ice-cream parlours. The town is also famous for its shoe making so a visit to the Pons Quintana factory shop may be in order. Twenty minutes will also take you to the capital, Mahon. Aside from the boutiques, there’s the Xoriguer gin distillery and a cathedral to see.
