Valldemossa holidays

Valldemossa, Majorca

Forested hills, cobbled alleyways and ancient buildings set the scene on a holiday to Valldemossa. Plus, it's just half an hour's drive from Palma.

Inspirational scenery

Poets, musicians and writers have been flocking to this hilltop town for centuries. And it’s all down to an enviable setting up in the mountains on Majorca’s west coast. Valldemossa is a sea of bottle-green slopes and blonde-stone houses. Its crowning glory is a grand, 14th-century monastery, once home to kings, monks and famous composer Frédéric Chopin.

Peaceful port

Valldemossa’s billed as one of the highest towns in Majorca, which makes it a great pick for hikers. It’s hemmed in by forest-covered hills and countryside. If it’s beaches you’re after, you’ll need to brave the hairpin roads that zigzag down to Valldemossa’s port. You won’t find many boats here, though – the harbour and tiny, pebble beach are mainly used for sunbathing and swimming.

Trips to Palma

Majorca’s capital, Palma, is a half an hour bus ride away. The seafront old quarter is a good place to start your sightseeing. It’s packed with narrow lanes, shops and an iconic Gothic cathedral. Take a walk along the promenade and you’ll hit a small, Blue Flag-winning beach, too.
