View All DealsIf you're after a pared-down spot with castaway beaches and easy-come-easy-go nightlife, holidays to Costa de los Pinos are just the ticket. No wonder it's a family favourite.
Home in on Majorca’s east coast, and you’ll find Costa de los Pinos at the end of Cala Millor's bay. It’s a well-to-do neighbourhood with private villas languishing in beautiful parkland. And it’s framed by pine-clad hills. Where they finish, the beach begins – an immaculate stretch of shingle lapped by the Balearic Sea at its bluest. There’s little else, apart from sand dunes, a shop, and a few restaurants.
The beach is a shingle affair with a sunbathing area and shady nooks, backed by a few bars. Plus, the sea is perfectly calm for little ones. If you want to get out and about, there are plenty more cashmere-soft stretches of sand that wrap around the eastern coastline like an oversized cardigan. Take your pick from lively spots with watersports, to castaway coves.
When you’re ready for a walk on the wilder side, the larger Cala Millor and its sidekick, Cala Bona, are around 10 minutes’ drive south. They both offer plenty of bars and restaurants. Pretty Porto Cristo is 10 minutes further on. Or you can always practise your swing at the nine-hole Son Servera Golf Club on your doorstep. Another three courses are under 20 minutes’ drive away, including the Pula Golf Resort.
It can be hard dragging yourself away from the beaches, but don’t miss out on the area’s sights. The famous Caves of Drach are one of Spain's natural must-sees – they're a 25-minute drive from Costa de los Pinos. There are three main caverns dressed top to toe in stalactites and stalagmites, and an underground lake where musicians play classical music every hour.
