This is a beautiful hotel, we were in room 0104 ground floor, lovely room, plenty of room, nice size balcony, the bed very comfortable, only 1 pillow each, good wi fi in the room, cleaned everyday. We had fruit, water free on your arrival. We arrived late so missed evening meal they said they would send a selection of cold meat etc to our room 45 minutes later we called reception to be told they were too busy to send something so had to go to restaurant to get something. That was far too late for me to eat 11.15 pm. The pools are lovely, cold when you first get in but within a few minutes it was a nice temperature. Plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas. Breakfast - there's a great selection of hot or cold, the omelettes were gorgeous, you can sit anywhere for that. Evening meal your allocated a table for the whole of your holiday, hot or cold meals a wide selection, everything beautifully cooked, nice wine not too expensive. The staff are very helpful and very friendly nothing's to much trouble. The views from the hotel over the sand dunes are stunning. If you want a supermarket there's one across the road to the right 2minutes walk, very reasonable. A 10 minute walk your at a small mall with gifts, cloths restaurants and bars.More
Lovely setting to have a drink, but quality of coffee didn't match the setting or the Italian brand name on the cups. Very bitter and someone is cutting costs or not cleaning the kit properly. Suspect the former, just a cheap bean being used.More
Location, service, tranquility
This was our 8th visit to this hotel with lovely staff who are very accommodating-several of whom welcomed us back as they recognised us from previous visits. The location is stunning with fabulous views over the Maspalomas sand dunes. The selection and quality of food-particularly at dinner is excellent-we enjoyed roast duck, fois gras, smoked salmon, fillet of beef and the excellent cheese selection to name just a few of the highlights. There are Canarian dishes every evening, together with Spanish and international dishes -accompanied by reasonably-priced Canarian wine( other wines are also avavilable). This hotel operates 2 sittings for dinner which we like as you know where and when you will be seated with the same serving staff each evening. Breakfast is open sitting, with outdoor seating also available( staff will show you to your table wehn taking breakfast outside). There are plenty of sun loungers and parasols which the pool attendants will set up for you with pool towels available from the same staff in the mornings (if you arrive in the afternoon, you can get pool towels from Reception). It is true that this hotel has more mature clients, which does ensure peace and quiet, but it is not an adults-only property. Many of the guests are repeaters-our next-table neighbours were on their 24th stay, others we spoke to on their 32nd (!). Yes the hotel is a little old-fashioned, traditional, etc.-but it appears that is the way the very many repeaters( us included) like it...which is why we all keep coming back! I read on other reviews that some people do not like having to pay for the use of the in-room safe. During your stay you should sign up for the loyalty club ( Riu Class) which is good for some credit on your next stay. We will be returning for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year.More
First class hotel with staff and food to match.Reception staff were good humoured and the best we have ever met nothing was too much trouble.Every one else looked after us well and made us feel welcome and as has been said before it is impossible to pick out any one person as they were all great. The buffet was outstanding with many types of food on offer all of the highest quality. There were four stations all doing show cooking as well as a substantial cold food stations ( prawns salmon hams mussels other cold meats and fish cheeses and salads. ) Not good for the diet!. Our room had great views over the dunes but was along way from restaurant etc and we walked at least two miles /day to these facilities. If you have walking problems suggest contacting the hotel to request a nearer room. We loved the quality of the fixtures and fittings of this hotel which I gather is to be refurbished, in my view a French polisher and updating the bathrooms to walk in showers and some painting/ plastering is all that is required. We had a great two weeks there.More

We arrived here after a couple of great days in Las Palmas so probably only couple to walk last half mile after getting the bus and a broken wheel on our suitcase. We were greeted with a smile from the porter who took our case and made us feel welcome and guided us to the front desk. From that point on until we left 5 days later we were treated like we were the only people in the place and all the staff were there for our benefit and no one elses. From a glass of champagne on arrival to two seperate occasions where we had flowers in our room, once with champagne the other with a lovely fino. The food was amazing whether it be the buffet (not your normal buffet, fillet steak and lobster are the norm) to the absolutely wonderful service in the sit down exclusive restaurant (only has about 20 seats) the place is fantastic. We were in room 4064 (I think) which was pretty much top and middle so our balcony had the best view in the hotel. Pool is beautiful and there is plenty of beds so no worries there and just an absolute pleasure to have visited this place. If all goes to plan we will be back in April but have to say a massive thank you to every single member of staff who gave us the best 5 days of our lives. Thanks xxMore
