fifth time at EV
It has been two years since we stayed here and it is still very good. We had requested 8th floor even numbered room to get afternoon sun and sunsets and we got exactly that. The solarium with nudist area and the wellness centre make this hotel. Other complaints about the lack of AirCon didn't put me off, although it was warm, but being on the 8th floor we just kept the patio doors open and it was perfectly fine. The beds are very comfortable and linen was changed at least 4 times in 2 weeks. The room cleaners do a great job and are friendly. There is a free to use fridge and a rental safe if required. The food is ok but not brilliant, having said that there is always something to eat. The music outside has not changed, I am over 50 and it brings me back to the 70/80s which is ok, but it must be time to improve the quality and content (one are two nights it was better quality). Took the free bus to Maspalomas, but it took ages, so I would recommend a Taxi at €4+. Free wifi is fast and easy to log into. I would recommend but next time there will stay somewhere else for a change.More
okay hotel bit underwhelming
So I was a bit concerned by some of the reviews on here when going, sun lounger wars and rude staff and German guests etc, So was with a bit of trepidation that we headed out. Staff: The hotel staff where for the most part very pleasant and helpful, the staff in the restaurant occasionally had a bit of difficulty understanding me but there English was still miles better than my Spanish! Nevertheless we muddled through and where able to pick food learning which ones wouldn't trigger my daughters allergies. Restaurant: We went all inclusive and were generally satisfied, pretty standard buffet food available along with a few rice and pasta dishes made to order and a chocolate fountain which we made good use off. With the exception of watching one adult guest lick ice-cream of a shared scooper and another drop a serving spoon on the floor kick it around and then put it back up on the buffet table, and deli meat sitting out next to the desserts it was clean. Rooms: Couldn't fault the rooms, maids were very good. We got a room for one adult and child which was essentially a room with a double bed, but we did have a living room bit with kids UK TV channels and a power shower with multiple jets int he bathroom which amused my 6 yr old. Oh and Free Wifi. And Yes the rooms are noisy we were on the 6th floor and could here the road at night. Wellness spa: Spa was great kids are allowed in before 12 and far from it being like a pool at a sports centre as other guests suggested it was during this time it was still relatively peaceful and relaxing when we went it with all the children being well behaved. General Pool there is a bit deep for little ones but waterfall was lovely as was the dead sea pool. Note if you want to use hotel towels for spa or beach you have to pay a refundable deposit. outside areas: Yes relatively busy by outdoor pools but was always able to find a lounger as it was just the two of us, If I needed a few together think I would have struggled. Evening entertainment: Yes this is as dire as other posts suggest, with the kids entertainment during the evening and day being a bit lack luster, although the kids didn't seem to mind. Kids who take part in the day activities are presented with an achievement certificate during the evening which I thought was a nice touch. Getting out and about: There is a free bus to the beach and one to Souix city, reception staff aren't particularly good at advising you on trips as there are a lot of reps from tour operators present. We didn't book with a tour operator - Thompson etc, so had to find our own way which wasn't a problem for us but did mean we didn't travel around as much as weren't really sure about how to get about. Booked a camel tour ( camel safari company) of the internet where they collect you from the hotel but the camels looked so un-cared for and unhappy that it put me off looking up more independent stuff. other guests: Saw a couple of reviews complaining about other guests all in all we had no problems and came across some very pleasant people. With the exception of witnessing oen rally loud group who sat down and where heckling the kids in the kids mini disco.... And a fair few older German tourists who kept trying to touch my daughters hair whenever we got in the lift....More
Great hotel, FANTASTIC atmosphere
What a fantastic place this is. The hotel is only 3 star and definitely lacks air conditioning however we went the last week in October and it wasn't unbearable. We stayed on 8th floor and had a bedroom & sitting room where the extra bed was. Our bedroom was mostly cool but the sitting room was very hot and we kept the doors open most nights, we did hire a fan in the end. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the shower definitely comes under the category of 'power' The food is lovely. There's not a huge choice but what there is was very tasty and don't take any notice of the reviews that say people are rude in the restaurant and don't know how to queue, this is the same in any all inclusive you just need to make your elbows as wide as everyone elses. Yes it got busy at certain times but if you can avoid those times you have no trouble at all. Warning however, the waiting staff don't start until 8 and as the restaurant opens at 7.30 there won't be any tables cleared until then. The waiter service and lunch at the al a carte bar is amazing. You sometimes have to wait a bit and the waitresses can forget people but we found if you tip them a couple of euros on the first trip, they soon find you again to offer more drinks. BTW you MUST try the hot stone steak it's delicious and the spit roast half a chicken YUM!. The bars were lovely. We stayed mostly in the outside bar away from the pool and we had NO problems with any of the bar staff. Yes some of the staff have trouble with english but if you attempt even the basic spanish they get the gist. Also again tip at the beginning of the evening with a couple of euros and again at the end and they will remember you. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean. The staff are very busy and lovely. The spa is quite noisy and can be busy but it's a nice free addition especially when the pool is quite cold during the autumn. Don't bother with the outside jacuzzis though, they are all cold. We wandered up to the roof terrace one morning and there are lots of beds. They expect you to be silent up there so you can really get away from everyone and the nudist area is sealed off and very private so you can't see any stray 'privates'. There were no 'sunbed' wars here. People did reserve them but there were loads left. The atmosphere of the hotel was the most enjoyable thing for our trip. We were three of only 11 British people there but it didn't matter because for the most part the Dutch and Germans are very friendly and will happily chat to you in English if you try them. There were a couple of downsides. The evening entertainment outside was HORRENDOUSLY LOUD and I mean you couldn't get away from it even in your room in fact it was just as loud on our terrace. The toilets in the games room smelled disgusting and the 'Apple Macs' didn't work. Also where the hotel is situated is a bit of a hole. It was quite a trek to the beach (didn't take the bus) and there wasn't much but shopping centres around. We did a couple of trips away and found that there were nicer places than Playa de ingles. The pool towels cost 9 euros to hire and then 1 euro to change them. The deposit is refundable but I would suggest taking some towels or buying them out there. The safe costs 10 euro but that is refunded and the fan was hired as well. We enjoyed our stay here, the hotel had such a lovely atmosphere, the WIFI is super fast (you can't stream anything though) even in the bedroom and the food was nice and edible. Be friendly to the staff and other holidaymakers and you can't go wrong booking here unless you're going to book in summer, then I'd advise going somewhere with air con!More

I spent 1 week at the victoria hotel in November. HOTEL. Pleasant staff always smiled and said hello. 2 out of 4 lifts were not working so often long queues for lifts. Pool area nice and clean, plenty of loungers. Gym - bit tired and tatty. By the looks of it equipment hasnt been cleaned for a while... Pool bar - good service, reasonably priced drinks. Hotel corridors / carpets / decor etc looking very tired FOOD. Big resturant, can get busy - bit annoying to leave table for another course & find someone else takes the table and you have to wait for another to become free. Food fairly good choice, some a bit tasteless but akways found something to eat. ROOM. Not air conditioned, ceiling fan sounded like a washing machine so too noisy to have it on at night No belcony in my room. Windows over looking dual carriageway - too noisy at night to have window open. Room cleaned daily. SPA. nice facility, bit grubby in places and the gents changing room smells like a public toilet. Id advise to wear flip flops...Needs a deep clean fairly urgently. Salt flotation pool very good, steam and sauna also good. ROOF TERRACE. nice and clean, the "hot tub" isnt actually hot. (Same temp as pool) Not many loungers - if you want to go get there early. Slightly underwhelmed here, hotel was nice although a bit tired in places - could do with a refresh. Having said that I would probably stay here again. More
