Ronda holidays

Holidays to Ronda give you a Moorish old town, authentic Spanish restaurants and flamenco shows. And you're just an hour away from the Costa del Sol.

A picturesque Andalusian town

Ronda is a beautiful hilltop town in Andalucia, Spain. This cosmopolitan spot is split in half by the dramatic 130-metre tall El Tajo Gorge – the old town La Ciudad on one side, and the more modern town on the other. It’s been an artistic retreat for decades, with Orson Welles and Ernest Hemingway counted among its former residents.

Lakes and beaches

Ronda doesn’t come with a beach, but you’ll get a good swim at the Olympic-sized pool on Calle del Guadalquivir. You could also have a dip in the warm waters of Embalse de Zahara Lake, 30 minutes’ drive north. Further afield you’ve got sand, sunloungers and watersports at Nagueles Beach, right in the heart of the Costa del Sol.

Ronda’s top sights

In Ronda’s Moorish old town the narrow streets hold the 18th-century La Casa del Rey Moro Castle as well as the huge Iglesia de Santa María La Mayor, a church converted from a mosque in the 13th century. And over the bridge in the newer part of town lies the Plaza del Toros, Spain’s most famous bullring, built in the 18th-century.

Trips to national parks and Seville

Ronda is within an hour’s drive of 3 of Spain’s most beautiful national parks. On a forest walk in Sierra de las Nieves you might spot wild cats and mountain goats. Granzalema is known for its spectacular caves and gorges, and Alcornocales is famous for its cork oak forests and birds of prey. Alternatively, you might want to travel a couple of hours to Seville.
