St Paul's Bay holidays

Holidays to St Paul’s Bay team a seaside village setting with vibrant nightlife and bags of natural beauty.

Lagoons and caves

This town’s perched on one of the most popular stretches of coastline in northern Malta. Lots of boat trips leave from St Paul’s Bay, as there’s so much to explore in the nearby waters – think tucked-away caves and scattered rock pools. A popular pick is a trip to the Blue Lagoon, sandwiched between the islands of Comino and Cominotto. As the name suggests, this place has glowing blue waters you can see right through, and it’s a great spot for swimming and snorkelling. You could take a dip a little way off the coast where bobbing boats dot the waves, or you could opt for a trip that takes you to the Santa Maria Caves.

Life under the sea

Malta’s long been known for its scuba-friendly waters, and there are some great diving centres based in St Paul’s Bay. Whether you’re on the hunt for intricate rock formations and historic shipwrecks, or you simply want to catch a glimpse of some tropical creatures, you’re in for a treat when you go diving here. Some sea life you might spot includes damselfish, octopus, cuttlefish, tuna and squid. It’s not too unusual to sometimes spot turtles and dolphins, too.

Waterside partying

Pretty seafront promenades come alive in the evening, especially when summer rolls around – they’re scattered with restaurants, pubs and ice-cream parlours. Beach clubs and rooftop bars add a little elegance to the party scene, and there’s a handful of nightclubs open into the early hours, too, if you don’t want the dancing to end when the clock strikes 12. Some of the most vibrant spots for nightlife in St Paul’s Bay are Bugibba and Qawra.

Hiking trails

Don’t forget your walking boots on your holiday to St Paul’s Bay – there are some great hiking routes through valleys, caves and forests. The Xemxija area’s a top spot for walkers – you'll be able to wander Simar Nature Reserve, home to aquatic birds like herons and kingfishers, as well as walking the Xemxija Heritage Trail. This popular route is just shy of 10km, and takes you past the sea, by ancient Roman baths and through cave dwellings. There’s plenty to keep this hike interesting along the way, and you’re treated to a handful of panoramic viewpoints, too.
