Hotel Ariston

The hotel is set on several levels, lots of steps, lovely pool area with plenty of sunbeds. We stayed in a sea-view room which was spotlessly clean, had a lovely balcony with table and chairs and a fantastic view out to sea. The hotel is traditional rather than sleek and modern with very helpful staff, especially at Reception. They assisted us with booking a beach shuttle mini-bus which collects you from the front of the hotel and takes you to the beach for EUR 20 which includes sunbeds and umbrella for 2 people (this is the going rate for just sunbeds usually!) They are all shingle beaches so make sure you purchase jelly shoes from the shop at the entrance to the beach (or at the bottom of the cable car if you go to the other beaches) for EUR8-10 as they try and charge EUR 20 on the beach. Breakfast at the hotel is more than adequate with hot and cold choices, however, there is no option to sit outside for breakfast which is a shame as the room is a little dark and can get very crowded. There was only one person clearing tables and he was overwhelmed at times which was a shame. The Hotel Ariston is in a perfect location for the cable car (about 7 mins' walk), the main shopping/restaurant area is 10-15 mins' walk and the small bus station is literally outside the front of the hotel where you can pick up all the tour buses. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Stayed Sept 2019 for 3 nights. Room and bathroom big, large bathroom, great view from rooms facing the ocean, good air-conditioning. Very large breakfast buffet with plenty of food and options. The is a luggage collection service which will pick up your bags from the car park and take them to reception - but you need to book this. Long walk from the car park to the first lift, take this to level 2, walk through the outside terrace to the bar of the hotel, take another lift to the reception, once booked in take another lift to your room. Stairs are an alternative but considering the hotel is built on the side of a mountain, the treck to the room may be difficult for less mobile travellers. The pool is great and very deep, the pool attendant is woeful and refuses to be helpful or polite - he will constantly remind you of the pool opening hours 9am to 6pm - no earlier and no later! The bar staff are incompetent and rude, the reception and room cleaning staff are lovely. Overall a good hotel, it's about a 10 to 15 min walk into the town.
