Villasimius holidays

Cagliari, Sardinia

It’s all about the beach on Villasimius holidays – this coastal town lays claim to some of Sardinia’s best spots.

Southwest Sardinia

Villasimius sits on Sardinia’s southwest tip, around an hour’s drive from the capital, Cagliari. It started out life as a fishing village, but thanks to a bustling marina and a string of sandy beaches, its popularity has boomed in recent years. The town’s shoreline forms part of the Marine Protected Area of Capo Carbonara, and its surrounding waters are jampacked with Mediterranean marine life. Sea bream, octopus and moray eels all appear in the viewfinder on snorkelling trips.

Bevy of beaches

When it comes to beaches, Simius Beach is one of the town’s biggest players, with more than a kilometre of sand stretching alongside the town’s marina. If all-day sunbathing sessions aren’t your bag, give Campus Beach a go – huge waves make it a top spot for windsurfing during the summer months.

Day trips to the capital

Villasimius is less than an hour’s drive from Sardinia’s capital, with local buses making the journey in around 90 minutes. Cagliari feels like you’ve moseyed back to the mainland – it’s all pastel-hued buildings placed around piazzas, and buzzing cafés that spill out onto the streets. It’s got its own beach scene to boast about, too – Poetto Beach is a 10-minute drive from the centre, where the sand runs for more than eight kilometres, sorting plenty of space for sunbathers.
