Holidays to Padenghe sul Garda bring you peaceful lakeside days, castle views and timeless charm.

Step back in time

Padenghe sul Garda sits on the western shore of Lake Garda, just above lively Desenzano. In Roman times, it was an important harbour and you can still feel its history as you wander around the little cobbled streets and narrow alleyways. Down by the water, you’ll find pebbly lake beaches where you can relax or hop on a ferry to other lakeside towns like Sirmione.

Castle views

The star of Padenghe is its impressive castle, which stands tall above the town. Locals still live in the houses nestled within its walls, just as when it was first built to protect Padenghe’s people. Climb the main tower and you’ll be treated to spectacular views across Lake Garda and beyond. The castle’s also a super scenic stop-off on a longer walk through the hills around Padenghe. Nearby, the little church of Sant’Emiliano with its age-old frescoes is just one of many beautiful churches you can visit.

Lakeside lounging

Down by the water, Padenghe’s pebbly beaches are perfect for easy days in the sun. You can settle into a lounger, take a dip, or head out onto the lake with pedaloes or a paddleboard. A lovely lakeside path runs north towards Moniga, ideal for gentle walks with plenty of photo spots along the way and when you’re ready for a break, cafés and bars dot the shoreline.

Wine and wanders

Paths loop up into the hills, winding through the vines and olive trees – great for exploring by bike or on foot. Wine tasting’s a must too and local restaurants make the most of home-grown ingredients, with reputations for food well worth digging your fork into.
