Zambrone holidays
Jump to sections
Zambrone holidays mostly play out on bright-white beaches – the type that will have the Maldives looking over its shoulder.
A town with two sides
Zambrone has bases in the countryside and along the seafront. But, just like most of this southern Italian region, much of the town’s appeal is to do with its coastline. It’s piped with icing-white sand and water the colour of robin eggs.
Brace-yourself beaches
The main beach in these parts runs on for miles. It’s a mix of coconut-white sand and tiny pebbles, all lapped by soda-clear waters. Most of the stretch is sunbed-free, apart from the sections belonging to the hotels. Across a rocky headland, you’ve got another smaller spiaggia – Paradiso del Sub.
Taxi to Tropea
Most heads are turned towards the sands, but there’s also a road of supermarkets and a couple of pizzerias and bars. A 15-minute drive will get you to Tropea. Not only is it considered one of Calabria’s best-looking towns, but it’s also full of restaurants, vintage townhouses and more beaches. One of the most photographed spots is a church, which sits on its own outcrop above the sea.
