Holidays to Praiano set you up with fresh-from-the-net seafood, stunning sea views and days out along the famous Amalfi Coast.
Praiano’s part of Campania’s UNESCO-accredited Amalfi Coast – famed for its sloping, villa-studded cliff-face and colourful lemon groves. Things aren’t as lively as nearby Positano, but that’s where Praiano’s real charm lies. It’s ideal for slowed-down getaways. Highlights include the pretty, domed church in the town centre and the pebbly beach at the foot of the cliffs.
When it comes to historic monuments, Praiano’s got things covered. The Church of San Luca Evangelista dates back to the early 12th century, and you’ll find a smattering of Renaissance paintings on the walls inside. There’s also the pretty Church of San Giovanni Battista, which features a colourful pottery-effect tiled floor, plus a crumbling Saracen watchtower on the headland.
Praiano’s a great base for exploring. Amalfi’s picturesque harbour is only half-an-hour’s drive away, and seaside villages like Minori, Maiori and Atrani are only a little further on. Head east, and you can reach the popular resort of Positano, where colourful villas are laddered up the cliffside.
