Tragaki holidays
Jump to sections
Holidays to Tragaki let you turn the ante up and down as you please. The sleepy village is slightly off-trail, but sandy beaches and livelier towns are easy to get to.
A countryside retreat
Tragaki, on Zante’s north coast, showcases the flip-side of the island’s coin. A stark contrast from busy beaches and party towns, this pint-sized village hides up in the hills, among olive groves and vineyards. It’s not too out of the way, though – the capital, Zante Town, is a half-hour drive away, while it’s just a 10-minute car ride to lively Tsilivi and the areas’s sandy beaches.
Nearby beaches
Tragaki is set in the hills, away from the coast. That said, there are a handful of beaches within a 30-minute walk, or 10 if you’re driving. There’s a two-kilometre golden swathe in popular Tsilivi. Amboula’s stretch is peaceful and secluded. And the sand-and-shingle cove in Kato Tragaki is the go-to for watersports.
Days and nights out
Zante Town is just a 30-minute drive along the coastal road from Tragaki. Decamp to the capital, and you can make a day of exploring its ancient churches and museums. You’ve also got boutiques squeezed into narrow lanes, and harbourfront restaurants for a seafood lunch. After dark, take a trip to Tsilivi – you’ll find a host of places to have a night out along its main drag.
