Kostas and Mary

We got back from this hotel yesterday after spending 7 nights here, the room is typical greek and you do have to pay for the safe and air con, you also have a tourist tax to pay. The balcony either has a washing line or has airier for you to dry towels and do a little washing. The hotel is down a lane and the Tui bus drops you off on the main road and you walk to the hotel, your luggage is left at the airport and is brought to the hotel separately. The breakfast is typical greek, bread, jams, eggs, greek yogurt and tinned fruit with some ham and cheese, cereal and some cooked peices of omelette, mini sausages and beans. Mary and her assistants will ask you if you want tea or coffee and will then bring it to your table. There are two tables on the terrace where you can eat outside if you wish. The gardens and property are well maintained and the pool area is cleaned daily. A bar area also caters for lunch time snacks and drinks. This hotel also has alot of returning guests who come here every year. To get into Skiathos town you just go out of the gate turning to the right and walk down the lane, at small junction turn a slight left and then a little right and just follow the lane until you reach Limonalki restaurant and then turn right to go into the resort. Skiathos town is quite a nice size with a new harbour and an old harbour with many excursion boats lined along the quayside, eating out is a pleasure in this resort as all of the restaurants we tried were all good and we went back to a couple of them twice, you can pay as much or a little as you can afford here, a gyros bar is good for lunch as myself and my husband would share a gyros and have a fresh orange juice each and this would cost just under 10 euros, our evening meals ranged from 35 euros to 53 euros and this was usually for 2 main meals, bottle of cider, bottle of amstel, 1/2 litre of house wine and a couple of nights i had a sweet, hence the 52 euro price, we found the tavernas in the back streets to be very good and reasonably priced and you are always offered something at the end of your meal, you could stay in this resort for 2 weeks and never go the same restaurant and still not go in all of the tavernas, beware however that cocktails in this resort vary from 10 euros to 15 euros each. The weather whilst we were here was very good and the temperature not to uncomfortable, some days 33 degrees and towards the end of the week around 28 degrees, you often got a little cloud in the mornings but this is gone by around 11 am. We have had a good holiday here and if we were to return to Skiathos we would have no hesitation in staying in Skiathos town and at this hotel as it is a very friendly hotel and all the staff work very hard to make it a pleasent stay for you, one last note i would also like to say if you on a Tui holiday is that your cases are also picked up for you at the hotel on your return and you are then picked up on the roadside, your cases are then waiting for you at the airport for you to check in.

Stayed at Costas Mary hotel in July '19. Arrived to find the hotel gardens looking beautiful. Was met by Mary who was friendly and shown to our room which was comfortable. Could do with a kettle. Breakfast pretty basic, needs a toaster, needs to be fresh orange juice and I would like have seen fresh fruit every morning to have with yoghurt. The hotel is clean and bright but too many faded plastic flowers and pictures. The gardener is a lovely little guy who never stops and keeps the gardens looking imaculate. Pool and bar area is comfortable, needs more sun beds as on some days you wont get one. My only real gripe about our stay is around the pool and bar. There is no atmosphere no music and a absolutely no conversation from the boys at the bar. They are no asset to this hotel. Our days out were perfect. On the bus to beautiful beaches every day...loved it!

This was our second visit to this hotel. Mary is always at reception to welcome her visitors upon arrival. A lovely, helpful and friendly lady with very good conversational English (plus a good sense of humour). Once she asks your name she will continue to use your Christian name; which is a really nice personal touch. Minutes from the airport and conveniently a few minutes stroll from the town, the ‘Kostas & Mary Hotel’ is a lovely small hotel set in a beautiful and well tended garden with a swimming pool set amongst palm trees. There’s a pool bar for drinks which can also prepare simple snacks/meals on request, The bar being run by the sons Christos or Kiriakos. Rooms are typical of Greece with twin beds and a small en suite bathroom. Wi-fi was free but use of a safe for valuables and air conditioning came at a small extra cost, i.e. €30 for the safe; €100 for the air/con for a 14 day stay. There was a good choice at the buffet breakfast and the staff - two cheery young ladies - helping Mary, were always extremely helpful and chatty with everyone. Rooms were cleaned daily, sheets and towels changed regularly etc. All in all, a wonderful little place to stay. Mary, husband Kostas and their sons as well as their staff were all hard working, helpful, courteous and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay here again and can see why this hotel continues to be so popular with British tourists.
