Perivolos holidays

Perivolos, Santorini

Holidays to Perivolos take you to Santorini's finest beach, and add in volcanic scenery, lots of watersports and easy access to the capital, Thira.

Peaceful Perivolos

Perivolos is on the southeast coast of the Greek island of Santorini, home to volcanic landscapes and fantastic sunsets. It’s a relaxed, purpose-built place where whitewashed houses sit quietly on tree-lined streets and the local taveranas wait patiently at the seafront. Speaking of which, the beach is one long stretch of sparkling black volcanic sand spooling behind the sparkling waters of the Aegean.

Volcanic sand

Perivolos has one of the longest stretches of beach on the island, and it’s bookended by Perisaa and Agio Georgios at either end. The soft black sand shelves away gently into the crystal-clear sea, which is filled with all sort of watersports. You’ve got sunloungers and parasols here, and a great line-up of waterfront shops, bars, cafés and tavernas.

Daytrips to Akrotiri

Akrotiri is to Santorini as Pompeii is to Italy – the excavated site of an ancient Minoan city destroyed by a volcanic eruption. Visit the place and you’ll find a well-preserved town square, visible street signs and murals that look like they were only painted yesterday. There are even still utensils here, dropped as people fled the ash cloud 3,000 years ago. Akrotiri is 8 kilometres from Perivolos.
