Rodos Star

Recently returned from a 10 day brilliant holiday at the Rodus Star, one or two hicups with the booking but these were very quickly addressed to our satisfaction. all the staff at this hotel including Mos the the manager, bar staff, cleaners, restaurant staff etc were fantastic, very hard working but has to be the friendliest bunch you could ever wish for always having time for you and prepared to put themselves out. The rooms were kept clean and were adequate for our needs. There was plenty of time allowed in the dinning room to ensure you didn't miss out on one of the 3 daily meal times. there was a large selection to choose from for those who have a broad palette and willing to try something new and I could of quite happily had a different meal every day of the week but would not recomend over indulging on your favourites over the first few days as the menu for lunch and evening meals are very similar and only change slightly each day, there are very nice salad and dessert bars, a BBQ is operating at both meal times where Kebabs, meat and Pizza are also available and very tasty. Pizza and toasted sandwiches served by the pool mid morning are very nice too. The pool was well kept and not over crowded. There is no specific entertainment for children and may be we were just lucky but being a small hotel children soon made friends and were quite happy doing there own thing and this added to the very relaxed feeling with no daily time tables to work too. The notorius hill can't be avoided unless you take a taxi but a trip down to the old fashioned village is a must which comes to life in the evening, the hill is not long but quite steep, take your time and have a rest and it is manageable but not if your not fully mobile or have any health conditions, i am a pensioner and went up and down at least twice a day and sometimes three times and enjoyed the challenge and would not put me off, younger people just took it in their stride This hotel created a very relaxed safe atmosphere where guests and some staff socialised and some great friendships were built up and still continue. A great holiday and very sad to leave..

The Rodos Star hotel is a great hotel to stay at for a weeks holiday! Moschoula, the manager, is very friendly, approachable and willing to help in any situation. She works on reception during the day but you will also see her mucking in around the hotel, working in the restaurant, cleaning the toilets and chatting to guests in the evening! She made us feel welcome and part of the family environment she has created around the hotel! The rooms are clean and do the job! If you are staying in a room of 3, the third bed is a sofa bed however I had a good nights sleep every night (and our room was next to the kitchen!). In the day, the pool is busy however you always manage to find your own space in the pool to enjoy. The pool is refreshingly cool and a welcome break from the intense sun! The pool bar is amazing! Jordan and Costas are great barmen, love to have a laugh and always have smiles on their faces. They play music all day around the pool and are always getting up to mischief! They appreciate people who take their empty cups and plates back to the bar but when they do their regular rounds around the pool collecting plates and cups they are still smiling and interacting with guests! Around the pool are plenty of sun beds (if you get in there just before 8am). We were slightly disappointed about the number of broken sun beds on our first few days however these were removed and replaced swiftly. The restaurant staff are friendly and work very hard! Paulina and her team are amazing! The kebabs at lunch time were a particular highlight! The pitta bread is fresh and the fillings are amazing. There is a good variety of food and suit picky eaters too. One of our party is a vegetarian and there was still ample choice for her too. In the evenings there was entertainment on 4 of the 7 nights. We had a quiz, karaoke, singers and Greek dancing. Karaoke and Greek dancing were particular highlights for us! There are also seats away from the entertainment if you wish to be away from it. Theo and Philipp on the bar in the evening don’t have the same amount of charisma and fun as the pool barmen however they serve many people (probably significantly more drunk than in the day!) in a very quick time frame and there is never really a queue! When we left, Moschoula hugged every member of our 9 people party and gave us a really genuine goodbye. We had a lovely time and would recommend the hotel. Would definitely visit again!
