Nea Moudania holidays whisk you away to Halkidiki’s second-biggest town. It has lively Greek holidays down to a tee, with lots of authentic tavernas, shops and bars that come with rustic charm and a friendly atmosphere. It has a vibrant waterfront, and serves as the perfect gateway to the Halkidiki region.
Nea Moudania, in Halkidiki, sits in mainland Greece. It’s the region’s second-biggest town and it has a large Greek fishing port, on top of bucketloads of shops and amenities. There’s even a 2,000-seater open amphitheatre where you can catch summer shows, and a hilltop basilica. Quaint little streets and a peaceful sandy beach balance out the vibes.
Nea Moudania’s golden-sand beach shelves gently down to the water and offers up Insta-worthy Mount Olympus bay views. You can rent sunloungers and umbrellas if you fancy relaxing, or opt to stretch your legs and wander along the newly built promenade where you’ll stumble across beachfront bars and tavernas. It’s all about safe beaches here that are tailormade for relaxing. And there are a few water activities on the cards, too, if you need to burn some energy.
If you want to tick Greece’s second-biggest city off your list, Thessaloniki excursions are popular daytrips from Nea Moudania. This place has a rich Byzantine Empire history, with lots still standing from that time period, including UNESCO World Heritage churches and monuments. When you get peckish, you can visit one of the Aristotelous Square pavement cafés. And seafood fans, listen up – there’s an annual Sardine Festival held each July in the city with live music, traditional dancing and plenty of grilled sardines.
