Kalithea holidays
Jump to sections
Holidays to Kalithea take you to an up-and-coming seaside town in northeastern Greece, known for its lively bars, authentic tavernas and long stretches of white sand. And for a bit of old Greece, there's the quaint Afitos village just five-minutes' drive away.
A fun seaside retreat
Kalithea is a modern seaside town on the east coast of the Kassandra Peninsula, way up in northeastern Greece. There’s a lively main strip with late-night clubs and stylish bars, plus a charming old town where tucked-away tavernas serve up authentic Greek cuisine. The long, sandy beach is backed by luxury hotels, and while it’s all go here, you’re just a 5-minute drive from the old-world charm of Afitos village.
Sandy beaches
Kalithea’s lively main beach is a long stretch of white sand dotted with umbrellas and sunloungers. A couple of sandy Blue Flag beaches are nearby, too. For starters, there’s Bousoulas Beach at Sani, 20-minutes’ drive away on the other side of the peninsula, which comes with crystal-clear water, beach bars and tavernas. Then there’s the peaceful Kryopigi Beach, just five-minutes down the road and backed by dense pine forests.
Daytrips to Nea Fokea and Sani
The village of Nea Fokea is about 10-minutes up the coast. Here you can tour a 15th-century Byzantine church, and from its hilltop setting see out across the ocean. You could also drive 20-minutes to Sani and take a two-hour walk along the clifftop forests. Along the route, you can spot lizards and turtles, plus see the ruins of a Roman villa. For more ancient finds, there’s the Archaeological Museum, an hour’s drive away in Polygiros.
