    ABOUT THE HOTEL

This trip is packed with outdoor adventures from start to finish. Your venue for the day is Kittila’s Snow Village, which is home to an ice hotel, an ice bar and an ice chapel. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the igloo-like hotel rooms and admire the impressive sculptures that have been carved from ice.

When you’re ready to play in the snow, it’s a case of taking your pick from the huge choice of things to do. Little ones can zoom down the snow slide and drive a miniature skidoo. Plus, family-friendly activities like husky sleigh rides are guaranteed to get you in to the festive spirit.

What’s more, there’s an indoor activity area for decorating cookies, and a restaurant where you can warm up over lunch. The highlight of the day, though, is meeting Santa Claus in his log cabin, deep in the woods.

For a full rundown of what’s in store, take a look at the itinerary.

It’s worth noting, the day is yours to enjoy at your own pace, and you can do the activities in whatever order you like.

An excellent day trip without staying

We join a day tour to come here. We had a very pleasant visit of Snow Village. Every rooms are difference, this village is a temporary hotel made up of snow and sculpted blocks of ice. As it is constructed from ice and snow and typically have to be rebuilt every year.  Tip1: Temperature inside the village is freezing. So bring hat, gloves, and wear enough clothes and snow boots when you come to visit. Tip2: We joint the tour with Levi Tourist Center. They do not have this tour daily, so better plan ahead.
    Excellent day trip magical

I’d done Lapland with a friend 5 years ago for a few nights and was desperate to take my niece before she stopped believing. We went in a group, myself, mum, sister & 10 year old niece. We flew from Gatwick on the 16th December 2018. My niece had no idea where we were going-we told her when we got to the airport. Excellent, surprised and so thankful. Her face said it all :) We had a great flight got away on time, the cabin decorated with tinsel, great crew in Christmas jumpers, hats. We had a nice breakfast on flight-as nice as plane food can be! It lines your belly if nothing else! It was festive throughout our captain was brilliant with the kids, telling them the reindeer’s were going to pull the plane along the run way at a high speed to take us off! It was just the little things like that, that just added the extra festive touch. Through the flight the captain came out and met with families and his experience with his kids at Lapland along with doing carols-all given carol sheets and a Christmas quiz! When we landed we were taken across the road in a hanger, it was organised a little busy but not manic how I’ve read some of the reviews on here and being like “hell”...... I guess it’s what your patience or tolerance is like. After jumped on a coach to the location. Roughly half hour. Stunning stunning views it’s like Narinia. We got there and it was overly busy we got on all activities and had food in the canteen-yes this wasn’t amazing or great but at least it’s something to keep you going and the kids. Let’s be honest your not there for a slap up fantastic meal. It is purely from memory chicken nuggets, chips, meat balls, rice, breads and the odd over things. You can go up as much as you like for more. We got a ski mobile ride into the forest to find Santa. This was great but extremely cold with the snow hitting your face so please be prepared. We got to Santa’s cabin and a few other families waiting. There is an elf around a fire pit offering hot berry juice and ginger cookies. It was our turn to meet Santa and it was private and lovely. Not rushed. Spoke with my niece. On the flight she wrote a xmas list and we discreetly passed it to the elf who passed onto Santa-my niece was shocked how he had it! So that’s a nice little tip if you manage to do that. We weren’t rushed at all. Had as many photos as we liked. Then back on the sleigh and continue the rides. We did reindeers, skidoo’s, sleighs, a big hill a lot of the kids love sliding down, huskies. Games of throne sculptures are incredible the craftsmanship to make them. Magical. Oh we also made cookies with elves! Well, the kids iced ones already made! Flight back as great as going out, same crew. Captin let us go in the cockpit before take off and have our pics with him and sit in his seat. Meal back was festive. Overall great day. A lot of people go with extreme expectations remember your there for 3/4 hours on the ground, make the most of it. You get given a map when on the coach. Try and plan where to go first. It is expensive, yes it is -15 degrees your in Lapland!, enjoy it. We got off the coach and the huskies were empty so we went straight on them. We were lucky no one moaned on our coach and felt we all had enough time for it all. No delays and an overall good day. I hope this helps or abit of an insight.
    Game of Thrones

We visited the Ice Hotel by the name of SnowVillage, 200 km above the Arctic Circle in Kittila. This year’s theme is Game of Thrones. The SnowVillage lodging in rooms & suites made of ice with Ice sculptures created in co-operation with HBO Nordic. It was -5 C in the hotel, I do not think I can sleep one night here, because while taking photos and wandering around -which took us 1 hour- my hands were freezing and I had to wear my gloves for warmth and obviously stopped taking photos. SEE photos.
Interesting experience but do think about it before booking for a night

We spent one night in the ice hotel. The ice work is quite impressive and it was good opportunity to explore the place with not too many people at night when there's only residents. There are tours in the late after that explain the structure and also how to survive the night in the ice hotel - which we enjoyed as our guide was really funny and answered all our questions (some could be silly) with great patience. It is an interesting experience but we won't say it is a comfortable experience. The bed was ok, and they provide very warmly sleeping bags. There's also a warm common room where you could go when you could not stand it and also do a sauna in the morning; and they set a fire in a hut outside where you could sit and bbq marshmallow. We think it would be great fun for families, but it is not cheap. One suggestion is that for the price they charge, they could have to make up for bed for guests and clear the bed (we must take our own sleeping bags and return it to the warm room the next morning); or at least a small private warm room that when we wait for the 10pm check-in for more privacy. We are not sure whether to recommend it but it is an interesting experience. At any rate, the ice restaurant is better than we thought - cheerful, friendly services and delicious food. That we definitely recommend.
A Must See - But Don't Stay There!
    06 Mar , 2019 Caroline P, 186338
We were staying in Levi, about a 45 minute journey from the Snow Village, so this was worth sharing a taxi to see. It's basically the Ice Hotel but called by the generic title of the Snow Village for some reason. Staying relatively so close, we wouldn't have missed it. It's very, very impressive & the amount of work & detail put in to creating it is just phenomenal. This year's theme (as was last year's apparently) was Game Of Thrones & the sculptures were simply stunning. You're allowed to wander up & down the corridors & walk into the numerous showroom bedrooms, which was fascinating - you just can't go to certain areas because guests are actually staying there, which is understandable.. It costs around 400 euros per night to stay there but to be honest, I wouldn't want to! It's so cold in there that the novelty soon wore off for us & we were rather glad that we didn't have to endure a whole night there. Between us (5 friends) we took hundreds of photos but after a short while, we stopped taking off our gloves to take pictures as it was so cold. Make sure you wrap up warm & wearing gloves & hats are a must. We indulged in a glass of champagne each at the ice bar & then headed straight for the warmth of the café for a hot chocolate. A must-see if you're in the area & another item ticked now off my bucket list!
