Alaminos holidays

Panorama Of The City Of Limassol, Cyprus

Holidays to Alaminos give you a hidden beach and Medieval monuments. Plus, you're in the perfect spot for exploring.

Secret sands

Continue down the coast from Larnaca and you’ll find the sleepy village of Alaminos. It’s surrounded by wild pine forests and olive groves, but the main draw here is the hidden beach. Once an inaccessible stretch, it’s now a secluded slice of sand, edged by golden cliffs. It’s not completely deserted, though – there’s a tropical-style beach hut serving milkshakes, cocktails and sandwiches.

Traditional ties

Step through the village arches and it’s like travelling back in time. Narrow streets are lined with traditional clay and stone houses, with tiny flower-dressed balconies. The fortress is a must-see. It was a Venetian watchtower, so gives sweeping views of the Med. There’s an impressive 15th-century basilica, too.

Daytrips along the coast

Alaminos puts you right in the middle of the island’s southern shoreline. Limassol and Larnaca are just half an hour’s drive away. Take a taxi to Limassol and you’ll be met with designer boutiques, flea markets and an old town full of churches and castles. The town also lays claim to a Blue Flag beach and a brand-new marina, where the tavernas specialise in seafood meze.
