The Valamar Isabella Island Resort offers just the right balance between laidback and lively. It’s set on a secluded island, while being just a whizz across the water from the mainland.
This resort is set on a tiny traffic-free island, just off Porec’s mainland. The island’s carpeted with trees, so there’s a real castaway feel about the place. That said, there's a boat that runs regularly to and from the mainland.
Everything’s really modern – think contemporary furniture in typical Mediterranean shades of the earth and the ocean. You'll have your pick of the main building rooms and the garden studios, which come with a modern minimalist style.
The island has plenty of spots for sunbathing, including sandy sweeps looking across to the terracotta-topped town, as well as a few private stretches. Read more ››

This hotel/island/resort is insane! There is something for everybody and the reviews are so so accurate. The whole experience of staying on this island is fantastic. The food, staff, activities and cleanliness is incredible. The Porec town itself has so much to offer. The cute side streets with small shops and restaurants is what makes this place! You won’t be disappointed with this hotel and location . If you prefer a family holiday or a quiet relaxing break then this hotel is for you as it suits all people of all ages :) I can’t wait to go back!! More
Great Hotel and location
We stayed here in August and had a great time the food is excellent and never had a problem getting a sun lounger in the morning.Staff are very friendly I would recommend this hotel. The only thing I can say in high season its mainly for families. We would return but out of high season.More
Just Gorgeous and an Excellent choice
Location. This hotel is on an island that has its own ferry to the mainland. The ferry goes every 30 mins from 7am until midnight. It is free takes 5 mins and ties up at the harbour right in the town. Lots of shops, bars etc right on your doorstep. The Hotel. We stayed in the 4 star main building with a delux sea view. There are also 4 star chalets and 5 star accomodation in another building, the old castle and in chalets Our room was beautiful, lovely walk in shower, plenty of hot water, free safe, kettle but no tea or coffee (strange) lots of storage, comfy bed, clever chair that converted to a single bed and small balcony that overlooked the pool and stage. We also had wonderful views of the old town of Porec. The room was very clean and quiet. Food. Everyone is half board but they do have a drinks package which we thought very expensive. The best meal was breakfast with everything you could think of. I loved all the fresh fruit, my husband the cooked breakfast .Dinner, well it was all beautifully presented but I never felt, wow I could eat that again, perhaps it was too bland. Not enough labels for the local dishes or the salad dressings and perhaps too many fish choices. One night the meat course was chicken wings, curried or sausages. You can dine in the 5* restaurents for a supplement but we didn't choose to do so. We had a bottle of house wine with our meal which lasted two days so took the bottle away on the first night and brought it back on the second. The staff did not have a problem with this. Entertainment This was disappointing, perhaps scaled down because it was end of season, we had one gala and firework night but the rest was mainly quizzes. When they had live music in the lobby bar it was hard to hear over the chatter of guests. Facilities I used the gym as we had several wet days and I do like to walk in the mornings. It was brilliant only small but well equiped. My husband had a massage and found the prices very reasonable. Staff all brilliant, happy and helpful. Cleanliness Really great both in the hotel and all around the island. Child friendly This is very much a family friendly hotel. Lots of play areas for the children clubs for the older ones plus activities. The island is beautiful, with man made beaches of sand or shingle, bathing platforms wonderful views, pine trees for shade and masses of sun loungers each pair having a dedicated umbrella. With paths round the island lit at night and woodland walks with outdoor gym apparatus there are plenty of places to stroll round. There is one huge pool that caters for children with slides, lazy river, etc, a small toddlers pool with a sun canopy and a short walk away an infinity pool which although part of the 5 star complex, 4 star can use. This pool is also warmer. However, 5 star guests can reserve the sun loungers so in peak season getting a bed there could be a problem. This is an adults only pool and there is also and adults only beach.. We stayed in September and never saw any reserved beds anywhere! This is so unusual but there did seem to be masses of beds everywhere. Just great. Dislikes, It would have been nice to have water on the table at dinner. The water is safe to drink and you can ask for a glass. The sun beds on the beaches are rather hard and not as comfy as they could be. They all have arms and the edges can be quite sharp. My husband cut his arm on one.More
Good for the soul
We have been to Porec before. Stayed on the mainland in the Valamar Riveria. This was before the Isabella resort had been developed four years ago. It is unbelievable how the island has been transformed. There are three hotels and multiple villas on this rocky outcrop, however, it feels spacious. There's the opportunity for beach and pool swimming, flat and hilly walking, activities for children, teens and adults - in other words, something for everyone. We stayed in a spacious four-star villa (room 889) which was spotless, serviced daily and had wonderful views over the Miramare swimming pool, Miramare Castle hotel, and the sea. Staff were friendly, professional and helpful. We drove so parked in the designated car park on the mainland. The transfer could not have been easier. Our flight arrived at 23:30. The moment we arrived a private transfer was arranged to take us to the ferry. We felt very special and couldn't believe this was included in the price. Food was a buffet affair - sometimes a bit hectic but civilised. Quality, quantity and service was first class with food options for everyone. We came at the end of the season and secured a fantastic deal via the Valamar website. Would highly recommend this resort. Porec is a beautiful town - historic and picturesque - as are the towns surrounding it. p.s. thank you for the wine on my birthday - it was a lovely gesture.More
Just wow. Came here for a week end of September with my husband and 18 month old daughter. We stayed in a villa which was perfect. Spacious, lots of cupboard space modern and very clean. Only criticism the walls are thin and you can hear everything from next door. The hotel itself is amazing, modern, spacious clean. The kids facilities are brilliant, baby pool with slides etc, mini parks dotted all around the island. Maro children's club is brilliant with amazing staff/ entertainers keeping the little ones occupied. The pools are great. The bars are great. The hotel was very quiet as it was end of season so we never had any trouble finding sunbeds. The food is really good at the buffet style breakfast and dinner. Stuff to suit everyone. Freshly cooked food in front of you. Good selection of drinks which you pay for. It is cheaper on the mainland but it's not easy to stay out late with a toddler so we tended to stay at the hotel at night. The staff are brilliant, friendly and hard working and always have time to say hi to you. Cleaners work tirelessly all day. There is a boat service all day that picks you up From outside the hotel and drops you off at poreč town. Poreč town is lovely. We spent a couple of days there sightseeing and had a few meals. Reasonably cheap food and beverages. We had a fantastic holiday creating new memories and we would definitely return to this hotel. Thank you 😁More
