Holidays to Castries put you in a prime spot for exploring St Lucia's best markets and beaches.
Culture-packed town
In true Caribbean style, this charming town is a seriously laidback character. The old quarter's filled with colourful colonial architecture, a pretty palm-lined square and 17th-century buildings. You’ll also find plenty of restaurants and street vendors dotted around where you can sample traditional Caribbean food.
Shop 'til you drop
Castries’ huge, vibrant market is the town’s main event, and it attracts locals and tourists from all corners of the island. You’ll find handmade souvenirs, colourful crafts, fresh spices and Creole treats being pedalled from a sea of stalls. If duty-free bargains are on your shopping list, head to the Point Seraphine and La Place Carenage shopping centres, which offer discounted jewellery, silks and fine leather goods.
Best seat on the coast
Located right in the middle of the west coast, Castries gives you easy access to St Lucia’s best attractions. Head south to see the Piton Mountains, Diamond Falls and a dot-to-dot of colourful Caribbean villages. North is where you’ll find Rodney Bay. This place is Castries' right-hand man when it comes to must-visit towns, with must-sees like the sweeping white-sand beach, Pigeon Island National Park, and the famous Friday night parties.
