Tropical Princess Beach Resort And Spa

I have just come back from a 10 day holiday with my boyfriend here and honestly the hotel is a lot more beautiful in real like the pictures don't do it justice. I was VERY pleasantly surprised with everything the rooms, grounds, pool just everything. We got to our room after the bell boys dropped us off and they did hang around for a tip very obviously but whatever. Room was spacious but very dark was quite hard to do your make up in and things, had a beautiful beach view room which really made the room complete! Although when sitting on the toilet the fan literally dripped on you so by the time your done your back is actually wet. If it rains then the room does leak quite bad but clears up on its own. The light in the bathroom was flickering we made them aware of this 3 times but never got sorted. Excursions - Very expensive but our rep did do us a few deals but still extremely expensive! Staff - all very pleasant and seemed to enjoy their job and have fun with everyone The pool was lovely but the beach was unreal! everyone complaining about the seaweed it really isn't that much of an issue, its a beach so you will get these things. The water was lovely not too cold at all we spent most of our time on the beach. Having a beach view balcony we saw all the men every morning clearing the seaweed so they did really try to get rid. Food - breakfast was rather strange wasn't always beans and just the usual breakfast food you'd expect. Lunch I really enjoyed lunch in the restaurant and the 24 hour bar the nachos are unreal! Dinner hit and miss some night really nice some night I did just have to settle for the cold pasta bar. One thing I will say is an Imodium is definitely needed honestly. The shops on site are ridiculously expensive take out a loan if you do want to go and have a little shop in there. For example... Imodium was $24. All in all I had a really really lovely time and would recommend to anyone!

After reading other reviews I was worried I had made a mistake booking here. On arrival I was quite amazed in a good way. The reception staff were great, gave us lots of information, bell boys were great, had our luggage to our room within a couple of minutes of our arrival. Our room was newly decorated, cool and spotlessly clean, although no tea and coffee in room there was cold bottled water and fizzy drinks. Food was plentiful and there was always something for everyone. I must say the coffee bar was fantastic, the staff in all areas work very hard and try make your stay extra special, if you do try to speak a little Spanish they really seem to appreciate this. I really do not know what people expect of a holiday if they want to moan about this resort, I personally feel the trp advisor ratings do this hotel an injustice. The Tropical Princess is a wonderful place! We had a family room at the resort. This means 1 room had a full bed/bath and 1 room had 2 double beds with a bath...perfect for 2 friends and myself. The rooms were dated but were clean. The TV only had spanish speaking stations but we did not come to watch TV anyway! There was a furnished hair dryer in the larger bath and shampoo/bath gel was supplied daily. Water in the shower was always hot and towels were replaced daily. There were ceiling fans in both rooms which was a big help with climate comfort. We had a balcony but the high wall kept us from really having a view-no problem as we were not out there at all. Our room was very close to the pool and buffet. Bars were scattered throughout the property and we were never far from one. Our room was 3211 which means second floor of building...keep in mind there is no elevator so higher number rooms mean more steps. Upon check in we were given 3 room keys and 3 "credit" style cards with no directions. You are to take the 3 "credit" style cards to pool 1 to exchange for beach towels. Upon check out you take the towels back and exchange for the cards to return to the main desk. The grounds are very well kept. Folks were always cleaning! The public restrooms were in great shape and always had supplies. The pools were sparkling and the beach was free of trash (yes, there was seaweed but what beach is free of that??). Lounge chairs were comfortable and we had no problem securing a chair in the shade by the pool. The beach was a different story. Folks would reserve a chair the night before (seems like) and seating was hard to find. We stuck by the pool around our room (3200 block). It was quiet with bar and coffee shop nearby. The other pools had all the activities-one with a swim up bar. Those pools saw a lot of action/noise. Food was plentiful and the variety great! We went to the buffet for breakfast and lunch and tried the specialty restaurants for dinner-both the Dominican and Brazilian were fun! I was impressed with food. If you go hungry it is your own fault. Hey, if I don't have to cook it, then it is delicious!! The servers are attentive and we had the same ones every day (by choice). My only suggestion is that a hand gel purification station be placed at the entrance to all eateries. We had no trouble getting reservations to the specialty restaurants. These can be made on the ground floor of building 3200. Folks sit there between 8:30 and 2:30 to help with this. Folks have complained about wifi only being in the lobby. Solve this problem by renting a Skyroam before you go. We had one and it worked flawlessly for around $10 a day and we all 3 could surf at the same time! We went to 2 shows and the dancers/performers were so energetic! The shows are loud but enjoyable. I really don't have anything bad to say. The workers were friendly, the food great, the whole place clean, and the relaxation wonderful. Keep in mind that we are 3 ladies 60+. We did think that it could be boring for a younger crowd but we had a great time! We never left the complex and found it to be extremely safe. Just a bit down the beach to the north of the resort are some cheap shopping places. This place may be old but don't let that fool you...if you want a great vacation do not hesitate to stay here!
