Best time to go to Antigua
Antigua doesn’t really do cold weather, and you can expect the mercury to waver in the mid-to-high twenties throughout the year. January’s the ‘chilliest’ month, with averages of 25°C, and temperatures can reach the early thirties in June and July. If you’re planning a snorkelling session or two, August is when the sea’s at its warmest. Tropical downpours aren’t uncommon in the Caribbean, and you can expect the most rainfall in October. It’s known for being drier than its island neighbours, though, and the humidity’s a little lower, too. Having said that, levels from June to August tend to be higher, so it’s best to leave windows and balcony doors closed as much as possible to make the most of the air-con and reduce humidity levels in hotel rooms. And while we’re on the subject of hotels, you may find that some facilities, such as restaurants and bars, aren’t available from late April to May and from mid-August to mid-November, but there’ll be enough open so you can still enjoy your stay.
