Getting the most from your Philippine pesos holiday money

If you’re off on holiday to the Philippines, you’ll want to arrange some money for your trip. The official currency of the Philippines is the Philippine peso.

The exchange rate for Philippine pesos changes of course, but as a guide, the rate over the last year was PHP 68.77 to the pound.

Where to get your Philippine pesos

To get a great exchange rate for your Philippine pesos, you can get them in advance from TUI online, or from your nearest TUI Store. You can also go for our multi-currency TUI Travel Money card – it works just like a debit card and you can use it worldwide. Fees apply when using the card in the Philippines.

Spending your Philippine pesos

You can use credit cards in higher-end shops and restaurants in the Philippines, and get extra pesos from ATMs in larger venues. You’ll mostly need cash for street markets and rural areas, and you should stock up on the smaller values, as many locals won’t be able to change large value notes. Allow around P2,000-3,000 a day for spending money, but do check out our handy TUI calculator for a more accurate estimate.

A five to 10% tip is normal if it hasn’t already been included in restaurants, and you should also tip tour guides and friendly taxi drivers.
