This quaint little town on the banks of the River Siene is best known as a jumping-off point for visits to Claude Monet’s House and Gardens, which is just 10 minutes’ drive away. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped straight into one of the famous artist’s paintings when you visit here – the ornate gardens are packed with thousands of flowers, lily ponds, weeping willows and a Japanese bridge. The town itself has plenty of sights up its sleeve, too. A Gothic-style cathedral sits shoulder-to-shoulder with timber-framed houses, and on the opposite side of the river you’ve got an old mill – straddling the ruins of a Medieval bridge – and a castle to eye up.
