We’ve just returned from THB Tropical Island and it was fabulous. We were all inclusive and the food was great, something for everyone. If I had anything negative to say it is the say rooms cleaned everyday but the didn’t, facility are very good for kids and the grounds are beautiful, I look forward to visiting here again. ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. 😍😍More
We arrived late evening at tropical island, the check in was very quick and informative, as we had missed the evening meal a picnic meal was provided. Our apartment was just across from reception, I was very impressed with the apartment, which was large and very clean and had everything we needed. The facilities on the complex were lovely and catered for every type of guest, and as we were a couple in our 60's who worried about too noisy with children, was pleasantly surprised that we were also catered for with an adults only pool and bar area, although we did use the other bar and pools as well. As I don't walk very well there was a shuttle bus into town provided by the hotel but taxis could be booked and these only cost four euros. There was only a couple of problems I had which involved the check out time which was 12 o' clock, we were booked on a trip to Tequeise Sunday market and I informed the manager that we would not be back til 2 o'clock and could we have the room til then otherwise we would have to carry our hand luggage with us, he said to keep the key and it would be fine I asked him how much I would have to pay extra to keep the key but he was insistent that I didn't have to pay just keep the key, when we returned the key at 02.15 the receptionist was very nasty and said we would have to pay €25.00, when I told her what the manager had said she become very vocal and said we would have to pay, I said I would but she insisted on going to check with her manager, she did this, then came back and said there would be no charge, but she clearly wasn't happy with this, which put a bit of a damper on what otherwise was a fabulous holiday. The other thing that was a bit of a niggle was, that if you went on any trips organised with J2, was that you weren't picked up or dropped back at your hotel, but had to make your own way to another hotel, this wasn't very far but if you can't walk very well involved another taxi at €3 or €4.More
Me and my boys ❤️
Firstly the animation team are amazing I can not fault them at all, polite and go that extra mile Julia and Pablo especially excellent with my children. Breakfast is excellent!!! Pool bar food is the best for children's dinner Restaurant tea didn't cater for children to be honest but they did make my boys a separate plain pizza so I'm greatful for that Entertainment fab Rooms are spotless There is plus and minus no matter where you go... Ants was a pain but we were on the ground floor and it's the all round weather I suppose .. The girl working in the pool bar I found very rude no need for the dirty looks at all !to feel uncomfortable like we were putting her out when we was hungry, when I speak with excuse me , please and thankyou I expect the same in return .. I did get walked in on whilst naked by the maid and then locked in my room why my children were on the other side with no adult supervision thankfully they was watched by others and staff we were compensated and apologised to by the manager and he's also a very nice genuine man! Even with the few faults we are booking to go back again today fir Feb 😃More
Good for families..
Just spent one week(9-16th Nov) at the Tropical Island in Playa Blanca with my husband. We stayed in room 634 close to reception. Lovely room, spotlessly clean, plenty of space, meant for 4 people but only enough wardrobe space for 2 unless you don't have much luggage! We used the main swimming a couple of times, the water was VERY cold and okay for a swim but not pleasurable to stay in for long. We didn't use the adult only pool because it was just too quiet, some gentle music would have been nice but just too quiet for us! Our balcony was facing south so we had sun all day which was a bonus. We were all inc but only had breakfast and occasional snacks and drinks at the snack bar, the food choice at breakfast was very good but as we ate out every night we can't comment on the food during the evening. We would like to have booked a table in the Canarian and Italian restaurants but we read that you only get a one hour slot, I am a very slow eater and I didn't want to ruin my meal by having to rush so we decided against this. On our first night we were woken by someone trying to unlock our door at 1.30am, my husband opened the door to be confronted by a couple who said we were in their room, they were worse for wear and she was very giggly but there was no aggression from them but they wouldn't accept it wasn't their room, they said they had valuables in the safe, our safe was empty as we hadn't yet been given a key, they stood at the door for a few minutes wanting to come in but my husband, standing in his boxers said that he would have let them in to prove it wasn't their room but I was in bed and he didn't want to disturb me. They showed him the key as it was also 634 but had a different colour, Finally they left saying they would go to reception to sort it out..!! HOORAY..!! Unfortunately on a few nights there was some loud shouting and swearing from guests arriving home from a night out and from others coming out of the Tavern bar just across from us. Whilst we expect families in All Inc we were surprised and disappointed to see so many school aged children as it was term time. I fully understand that parents struggle to afford holidays in school holidays and 100% agree that holiday companies shouldn't put prices up so high at peak times. We used the back gate to go in and out,(we nicknamed it the 'prison gate' it was huge cranky and noisy!) there is a little key thingy that is used to open it, it's not explained very well and we had to wait a minute for other guests to appear to show us how.. There is a small white pad on the chain link fence as you go past the small security hut, there isn't a key sign on it but put the key against it and the gate opens. On return there is a another pad with a key sign on it to the right of the gate. The key is 10 euros which is refundable. Once outside, cross the road, turn right and follow the road round to the main road then turn right and the sea and promenade are on the left, it's about 10-15 minute walk. We ate out at Cervantes and Tipico Espanol restaurants on the main road. This is our 3rd visit to Playa Blanca and we have used these restaurantes previously, on this occasion in Cervantes we were kept waiting for our food for nearly half an hour, as I looked around hardly any tables had food on them, the staff were rushing about but very little food was being served, when our meals were finally served it was delicious, however we decided not to return. The service in El Tipico was much better on the first night but the second night was very busy and we felt rushed as there was a queue outside waiting for tables, there wasn't any real personal service and we felt we couldn't just sit for a while after our meal and chat. On four nights we ate at El Galeon down by the harbour where the ferry is. It doesn't seem to get very busy as it's away from the hustle and bustle of the main street. So we felt more relaxed and the food is excellent. While having a sit down on the promenade sunning ourselves on our first day we were confronted by a 'deaf' girl asking us to support a deaf charity by signing a form and donating, stupidly we were caught unaware and though I wanted to say no we felt we couldn't, on the form it showed two donations of 20 euros, she pointed to this and I said I'm not giving 20 euros but she meant write down how much you're donating, we gave 5 euros but although she was very pleasant and thankful we couldn't help thinking it was a con...we hope it wasn't..More
