Hotel Pez Espada

Just back from a five day fantastic trip with my fiance , staff where a big part of the hotel been great espicaly the young girl working in bar was always smiling and couldn't do enough to look after guests. Location is perfect right in front of fantastic beach close to evening life but with out hearing noise . Rooms where good size and clean . The entertainment in the hotel was fantastic espicaly the Hollywood nights these guys where great .breakfast had great choice and again service was great . Pool area had few diferent areas and was kept so well .Would highly recommend this hotel we will be back .

Having had many happy times at the Pez Espada in the past, after a 10 year absence, my sister and I returned for a nostalgic birthday treat. We could not have had a better welcome from the reception and dining room staff, some of whom remembered us as we did them. This made us feel at home straight away – we have fond memories of the Pez being a friendly hotel, nice to know things have not changed. The hotel is in a very good position for walks along the promenade, shops and the Marina. There are easy transport links, regular buses, to take you to the surrounding areas like Malaga and Fuengirola, always worth a visit. It has a lovely pool and gardens back and front to relax in and soak up the sun with the beach directly opposite. All the public areas as well as our room are spacious and kept clean and it is clear that the hotel is well run. The dining room is nicely set out and we were able to sit where we liked at breakfast and evening meal, it is very comfortable. There was a good choice of food which always looked appealing as it was neatly arranged around the buffet counter. We never had to wait for anything, food trays were replenished quickly, nothing was left to dry up. The first week of our stay coincided with the last week of the Spanish school holidays so the hotel was full of families, with small children and lots of prams! We are not anti-children but there really were a lot of them and the dining room was very full and noisy at around 9 p.m. every night, it was overwhelming. Some small ones were left unsupervised by their parents to move around the buffet counter handling and putting back food they did not want and pushing their sticky fingers everywhere (not very hygienic). The waiters did a remarkable job of keeping their composure and worked hard to clear up quickly. The Pez Espada is not advertised as a child friendly hotel so we did not expect there to be so many children. There was no information when we booked that this would be the case. Luckily it got quieter the second week of our stay as the families gradually departed. Evening entertainment was very poor, apart from two flamenco shows, it was generally geared around children. Even the bar at night was full of tired little ones running around whilst the waiters did their best to carry trays of drinks to guests. On the bright side though, we have learned several catchy children’s songs. All in all the hotel still has a very nice ambience and we enjoyed our stay. The management have an hotel and staff to be proud of. We will return and won’t leave it so long next time as we have many happy memories there. Oh, and we will avoid the beginning of September.
