If you like a bit of old-school glamour, look no further – Frank Sinatra and Sophia Loren used to stay here.
This was the Costa del Sol’s first luxury hotel. Back in the Fifties, it attracted the likes of Sophia Loren and Sean Connery. And it lives up to its famed history with a huge pool and great buffet dining scene.
The hotel’s right next to Torremolinos’ prom. It’s a five-minute walk to Benalmadena’s chic marina, and just a few minutes’ stroll to La Cariheula, the Spanish quarter known for its tapas bars.

Return autumn 10 night visit
We stayed from 3 to 10 November in a sunset pool view room. These rooms overlook the pool and have a view of the nearby beach with late afternoon sun until it sets. We used our balcony every afternoon to soak up the last of the sun. We paid the 4 euros daily charge for in room tea, coffee and water tray. There is a free fridge and bedroom safe for a low charge. The large double bed was comfortable had long bolster pillows which really need upgrading to be less lumpy. The choice of food for our half board deal was excellent and even better than last year. The restaurant waiter service Was effective, friendly and welcoming. There is nightly entertainment and happy hours on Wednesday and Sunday. The large guest lounge off Sinatra's bar is good for relaxing by yourself or meeting other guests. Everywhere is wheelchair accessible. The new beach view suites with balcony jacuzzi and separate sun bathing garden area is now fully in use. The receptionists are multi lingual and very helpful. We booked our trip to Gibraltar via them. Local bus service is excellent and cheap. We visited Malaga the bus goes into the bus station at the Port and the City and shops is just across the broad. This is a hotel where many people return each year and some more than once. It also is part of a chain which offer a direct booking discount card which gives points to exchange for hotel services or drinks such as bottles of wine. Check it out online.. We had an excellent return visit and would recommend the Hotel for its services, facilities and location.More

Lost its way
Stayed here many times over the past ten years staff always efficient and friendly really good advert for hotel But now for the downside ambiance has disappeared no piano player in the lobby of an evening, children's pool built in the front garden area but only used by a few for a very short time as the parents did not appear to want to supervise them away from the main pool area where there is another infants pool. New luxury suite block now open but dining room does not seem to cope with the additional guests with extensive queuing in the evening for a table at dinner, having a dress code in the evenings with men in long trousers is ok but the wearing of baseball hats is surely not, if trying to create a proper dress code. Food has deteriorated over the years too many stew/curry dishes what has happened to the proper food that was offered both spanish and european, buffet stations need urgent refurbishment to keep the food hot not tepid as it is now, should spend money on guest services rather than pools that are not used. Lastly I doubt very much if trip advisor reviews are actually seen by management as there is a lady who is employed to answer all comments on this and other sites her replies are always the same style with no apologies for any misdemeanors. In my opinion management does not know whether it wants to become family hotel with younger guests and lose its loyal european older guests who have been loyal over the yearsMore

Another great stay
Stayed here 26th Oct-2nd Nov in room 318, it was our 5th visit so we knew what to expect and we were not disappointed. The room was clean and spacious with a huge comfortable bed. We found all staff to be friendly and helpful. Meals were good, with plenty of choice. This is our favourite place to stay in the area. We love the location and the history of the hotel. One evening we enquired at reception if it was possible to purchase a copy of a book about the Pez Espada which was on display in a cabinet. The gentleman went into the office and returned with a copy and when we asked the price we were told " nothing, I can give it to you". This made our stay even more perfect. We had a lovely holiday and no doubt will return.More
A gem of a hotel
Apart from a hiccup at the beginning when we needed a room with a walk in shower, which was quickly resolved (thank you Martin on reception) it was a fantastic holiday. We had booked a suite and we were moved to a garden room junior suite in the recently built extension with its own garden and sun beds and direct access to the promenade. Perfect. The staff were all friendly and the food was of the best we have experienced at a four star hotel, The location is wonderful with an easy stroll to the La Carihuela area with bars, restaurants and shops. Also close to the Benalmadena Marina and a taxi rank opposite to Torremolinos Centro or a bus if you prefer the local feel. The suite was a pleasure to return to and had been designed really well with excellent facilities. I have no doubt we will be returning guests.More
