Relaxation is the ticket at the Protur Roquetas Hotel and Spa, where a laid-back pool scene and a beachfront setting come as standard.
The long lazy river, hot tub suites, and top-of-the-range spa are just some of the reasons TripAdvisor reviewers have awarded this place a Certificate of Excellence.

Excellent hotel that caters for a variety of nationalities. Pleasant and hardworking staff, always willing to help. Rooms clean and spacious. Free safe and wifi, and fridge restocked with soft drinks every day. Plenty of sunbeds, no need to reserve with towels as some were doing at 7.30 am. You could basically eat all day if you wanted to, whether it be at the pool bar or in the restaurant. Able to help yourself to soft drinks and beer from the "watering" stations at the pool bar or the restaurant. As with all decent hotels around the world, men are required to wear long trousers for their evening meal in the restaurant only. Outside the hotel there is an approx. 4 mile long paved promenade, which is flat and easy for wheelchairs. The nature reserve is at the end of the promenade for those who like bird watching or walking around the sandy paths, but you do need to take some water with you as it gets very hot out there.More
bill & jen,
Great hotel not many buts, travel tips for the less mobile.Manager please read
We had a lovely holiday in Roquetas De Mar 5th to 12 October 2017. The weather was fantastic, sunny every day, a light welcome breeze and we could sit outside at night without a cardigan. The Protur is a lovely spotlessly clean hotel situated at the far end of the resort. It is a very relaxing low key area. You could walk along the promenade in some parts and only hear the waves lapping on the shore. Roquetas is much larger than I expected there are many cafes , bars and coffee shops and lots of small shops selling souveniers, holiday wear and beach essentials. The Grand Plaza (large airconditioned shopping centre) with a large Primark and Deichmann along many others is well worth a visit and on a Thursday there is a market on some open ground next door. You can get a bus from outside the Playaluna Hotel next door 1.30 euros each way approximately 30 minutes journey. If you wish you can then get another bus from the bus stop next to where you got off to see the Castle and Habour for some great photo opportunities. There is not much happening in this area during the day though apart from the opportunity to have some free tapas and see the daily catch coming . I would be nice to take a younger child fishing here. We also visited America City by bus which took an hour and cost 1.95 euros. You can then get a no 1 bus outside the bus station at for 1 euro. This goes on a circular route round the historical part of the city. We decided to get off at the Castle (Alcazar) and walk downhill to the other points of interest. I would recommend you print a city map off to take with you. The castle (free entry) is very large with lovely gardens and spectacular views. We spent about 2 hours here and took some fabulous photos. Many of the bars in the old town offer free tapas with your drink. The train station next to the bus station also goes to Granada and Madrid and the ferry at the port goes to Morrocco. If we had been there longer I would have liked to visit the pretty port and beach of Aquadulce which we will see from the bus on your trip to Almeria. There is a cycle track all the way along the beach. from your hotel to Aquadulce and bikes to hire opposite the hotel for the more mobile. I did see a few people on mobility scooters, I assume you can hire them but don't know where. If you turn to the right facing the beach your will come to the salt flats and wildlife area if that is your thing. Now back to the hotel. Lovely atrium entrance area, reception and all other staff very cheerful, efficient friendly and helpful. Everything looks fairly new. Bar with seating to the left of reception and we can thoroughly recommend the Mojitos that the barman makes here. Great selection of drinks available some branded. Lots of quality seating available inside the hotel away from the bar if you want a quiet read or get away from the heat. Rooms good size, plenty of storage space, decent size balcony, shower over bath and two sinks set in the worktop. Two big singles pushed together more pillows available just ask if required. Garden and pool area was well kept. Take a noodle or float if you have one to enjoy the lazy river. Sunbeds available next to pool, on the roof terrace and in the garden area overlooking the promenade. You will get a bed if you are not too fussy. There is also a lovely chill out area with shade, sofas and soft background music next to the bar area. Activities are available during the day, but no one pushes you to take part. The only noise here during the day is the aqua Zumba and bingo 1/2 hour each. This is a chill out hotel mainly adult focused. However there is a fantastic pirate ship themed pool for the little ones. Food in the restaurant was very good I thought. We had stingray (just like skate) one day and always a good selection of salads and main meals. Breakfast omelettes were lovely. The pool restaurant was also better than expected. Roast chicken quarters, pork and chicken kebabs, quality burgers and fish available of different days. Chips baked potatoes, pasta and salad, Fresh fruit at every meal, I would have loved some strawberries or marshmallows for the chocolate fountain. The Asian restaurant. For us this was a big let down. However saying that the Prawn Tempura as a starter was tremendous. The main courses were a big let down as there was only 2 choices for meat eaters and the portions were very small. Desert choice also poor and the food service was very slow. On this basis we cancelled our Italian Restaurant. Now for my 3 biggest disappointments which a lot of guest keep mentioning but the hotel does nothing about. Entertainment which is in the area around the outside pool bar. We don't expect the Rolling Stones or Celine Dion but If you are advertising yourselves as a 5 star hotel we do not expect the only entertainment offered to be karaoke (mainly children taking part) a film quiz, TV quiz (which are too tedious with the multiple languages spoken) and lotto a dance 4 nights out of 14 night stay. The live acts were mainly good some excellent. However when you are wanting to go out at night and having to buy drinks because if is so boring to stay in that is not good enough. The indoor bar is for those who want it quiet but more should be available at the stage area for those who want a bit of life even though we are 65 plus. Fortunately we met some nice guest to cheer us up at night. Smoking. - next to you at breakfast outside and lunch while you are eating. Even on the 4 poster sunbeds they light up. How about designated smoking areas please. Bar service, the staff are all very quick and friendly, however at least one waiter is required outside to serve guests as queues can get very long. Would l recommend this hotel. Absolutely if you want a chilled out break, mainly hotel based with good weather and beach and good food and a nice pool area.. If you are looking for a bit more life in the evenings there is one music bar the Old Pression just past the Roc Trinidad Hotel but not much else.More
What a difference a year makes!
This hotel caters for a number of nationalities, British, Spanish, East European. There were a number of toddlers and infants (L.Sept-E.Oct). Entertainment ranged from poor (krapeoake to a good singing trio, rock band, magician, Frank Sinatra/Neil Diamond tribute act, dancing troupe, flamenco, bingo, quiz at the pool bar stage/seating area. Pianist on various nights in the lobby bar area. Located on the promenade at the edge of the hotel /shop district with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. Near to bus stops for Puerto Roquetas/Aguadulce, road train and taxis. Other forms of transport can also be hired nearby. The beach is not sandy, but more like fine grit. Not really suitable for young children, the beach slopes steeply into the sea. The breakfast is the average menu found in Spanish hotels, English or continental. Lunch and dinner is mainly 2 soups, pork (everyday), fish (try Grouper, its like Cod), burgers, kebabs, occasional beef, stir fry, potatoes, chips, etc., and plenty of salads. We were never short of something to have. The desserts are almost the same every day. Varieties of Victoria sponge cakes, cold rice pudding, fruit, custard, flan, ice cream, cheese. The bottles of wine with the meals are a reasonable Spanish wine. Good range of drinks in all inclusive package. Pros. Check-in was well organised and fairly quick considering there was a bus load of us. Rooms were ready. Very clean interior and outside grounds. Good size rooms, large twin beds. Well equipped bathroom which in my opinion need renovating to same standard as the Protur at Sa Coma, shower over bath. Toiletries and hairdryer. Kettle and tea, coffee, etc. Free safe. Reasonable size wardrobe with hangers and shelves. Excellent room controlled air con. Free mini bar, soft drinks only, replenished every day. Fairly soundproof balcony doors. Reasonable size balcony with chairs and table. Free good Wifi with option to upgrade. Good hot shower and water pressure. More than enough sun loungers and umbrellas, and room for them. Loved the lazy river. Plenty outside seating and tables. Majority of staff are friendly, excellent hardworking bar staff. Only two lifts for each of the two blocks, but rarely had to wait long. Cons. Waiter service in restaurant a little slow at times, but understandable when its busy. Some dessert dishes were always wet. Very little outside seating area away from entertainment areas, although there is some inside. Entertainment recorded at 85dB some nights, jet engine 90dB. Watch out for Lycra louts on promenade. Went as a couple, with 44 years experience of holidays in Spain. Would we go again? Not sure. Last year we had a very relaxing quiet holiday. This year spoilt to some extent by E. European from a group of them coming in early hours drunk and slamming room door which sounded like a bomb going off. Woke up a lot of people. Saw him harassing room maids in morning. Two women from same group talking non-stop for 1 1/2 hours by sun loungers talking very loudly, almost shouting. Annoyed more people. Children screaming in restaurant first few days.More
Great second time here
This is the second year at this hotel and still has good as the first time I emailed a week before to ask for the room we had last year and yes we got this room again the staff cannot do enough for you we had a problem with ants in the room and with in minutes of calling reception there was somebody to the room and that was sorted and had no more problems rooms cleaned every day with clean towels fridge restocked with water and pop and also tea and coffee refresed every day the food was always good and plenty of choice and at lunch we always went to the out door eating area down by the pool which is great siting out in the sun at lunch time staff always happy and helpful where ever you are in the hotel this is a hotel we will be returning to again in the near future great holiday the area around the hotel is quite with a few bars and shops and is right on the beach with a walk way and separate bike path with shops about where you can hire bikes good for all the family .More

I think you'll love it
From start to finish this was a great holiday. The service is excellent, the food is very good and the all-inclusive drinks are fine. That's all you need to read really! The hotel is situated right on the sea front so it's really quiet once the entertainment ends around 11pm. I had emailed ahead and asked for a sea view room and we got exactly that. The rooms themselves are probably due for an update but they were clean, spacious enough and very comfortable. The fridge was restocked daily with water and soft drinks, as were the bathroom toiletries and the safe was free to use. In this hotel, 'all-inclusive' really means all-inclusive. The only charge was a refundable 30 euros for 2 beach towels. The bedding was changed as often as you requested and the towels were changed daily. All the staff, even the ever busy dining room staff, were helpful, pleasant and polite. All in all, we loved it here and will very probably go back very soon. I hope you'll read all the excellent reviews this hotel has got and try it yourself. I really do think you'll love it.More
