Playa del Torre de Benagalbón has a long scoop of dark sand for you to lay your towel out on, and watersports are on offer when the weather’s right. Plus, good news if you’re after some peace and quiet – it’s doesn’t usually get too crowded here.

No need to miss Malaga

You can easily squeeze a day trip or two into your itinerary while you’re here. Torre de Benagalbón is less than a 30-minute drive from lots of Malaga’s top sights, from Picasso’s birthplace museum to the huge fortress of Alcazaba. The Caminito del Rey canyon is also less than an hour and a half away by car.

All along the watchtower

Fun fact – Torre de Benagalbón is named after its 14th-century watchtower, which used to help keep locals safe from invaders, like pirates coming from North Africa. It’s still standing on top of a hill, so you can see it from the coast to this day.
