Service in the hotel was absolutely perfect. I'm going 4 stars just because it's a bit old... specially the rooms. Swimming pool is fantastic and palm trees around are making a perfect atmosphere, hotel have almost every night some life music which is nice and rooms with ocean view are very romantic. I can recommend this hotel. I was just a bit disappointed because rooms on pictures looks much nicer... More
We have stayed many times in portobay hotels, Madeira,Algarve and Lisbon as we are always confident of an extremely high standard, both in amenities and service. Our recent stay at the Eden Mar didn't disappoint, everything was perfect. Have already booked our next two visits.More
Just back from another great stay at the Eden Mar. Check in was very efficient and the reception staff friendly and attentive. Our room was spacious, clean, well equipped and had a nice sea/garden view. We were staying half board and the food was generally good but, in the evening buffet, could have been hotter. We made use of most of the facilities and they were all maintained to a high standard. Away from the hotel there is a reasonable selection of restaurants bars and shops within walking distance. Evening entertainment was a bit ‘hit and miss’ but some people seemed to enjoy it. Definitely worth another visit.More

Stayed Oct 17 there was some renovation of rooms going on that we were not made aware of -as we were only there 4 nights and were out most of time it was ok but was noisy around the pool area Found at lunch time the outside restaurant (think is veranda )has great salads which we shared as a portion was so much Were surprised that at lunch there were men with no shirts on and women in bikinis being served meals -bit off putting and risky with hot food and drink -think people should be required to cover up top half We took half board option which was a buffet at porto mare -themed nights with plenty of choices -dessert table v goodMore
As it was a significant wedding anniversary we decided to go back to Eden Mare as we had enjoyed our stays several years ago. It did not disappoint.Madeira has become much busier but maintained it's feel of quality. The highlights were the upgrade to a suite ( Thank you) and the meals in the Med Restaurant. The hotel has maintained it's intimate and friendly feel which was the main reason we returned. We will be back but much sooner this timeMore
