Potos holidays
Jump to sections
Holidays to Potos take you to a bustling nightlife and restaurant scene, bundled up with the charm of an old fishing village. Plus you have daytrips to the capital, Thassos Town.
A lively old fishing village
Potos sits on the south coast of the Greek island of Thassos. The village has a bit of old-world charm mixed with a bustling nightlife – so narrow cobbled streets in the old town come alive with authentic eateries and cheery pubs. You’ve also got a good stretch of sand, dotted with beach shack restaurants and bars. And the historic capital, Thassos Town, is 45 minutes’ drive away.
A beach double
Potos Beach is a busy, 200-metre stretch of sand and shingle, gently lapped by clear shallow waters. There are lots of sunloungers and umbrellas, plus a couple of beach bars set back from the beach – there’s also a popular watersports centre for the more adventurous. Five minutes’ drive away is the quieter Psili Ammus Beach, with its quarter-kilometre stretch of fine white sand and clear, shallow waters. It has some more secluded spots – away from the bars and restaurants – on smooth rocks at the northern end of the beach.
Daytrips to Thassos Town
The capital of the island, Thassos Town, is a 45-minute drive way. It’s a town built around a very modern harbour lined with trendy restaurants and bars, though it’s got an older side to it, too. For starters, there’s an Ancient Greek acropolis. You’ve also got a well-preserved amphitheatre – with first-rate views across town from the top steps. Fascinating relics from both sites can be found in the town’s archaeological museum.
