With holidays to Perigiali you get a clever double act – a quiet retreat here plus lots of bars and restaurants just a walk away in Nidri.
A well-connected village
Perigiali is a coastal village that sits quietly on the eastern side of Lefkas[F1] , just opposite the little Greek island of Scorpios. It’s done rather well for itself in terms of location. For starters, it’s got first-rate views across to mainland Greece. Then there’s the backing of olive groves which come with hike-friendly paths. And it’s only 15 minutes’ walk to the lively town of Nidri, with its bars and discos.

Beach choices
Perigiali has scooped up Passa Beach as its own. It’s a little stretch of shingle and pebble with brilliantly clear, snorkel-friendly water. As it’s on the eastern side of Lefkas, it’s nice and sheltered – and there are lots of tiny coves that are equally protected all along this coastline. It’s worth exploring the west-coast beaches, too, though – Kathisma, 40 minutes’ drive away, is a popular one with lots of sunbeds, watersports and cafés.
Exploring Lefkas Town and beyond
It’s worth a 25-minute trip up to the capital, Lefkas Town. The 17th-century Church of Saint Spyridon dominates the square of the same name, and there are several other pretty churches to see – along with the Monastery of Faneromeni up in the pinewood hills. Leaving Lefkas Town, a causeway leads across to mainland Greece – with some ruined fortresses along the way.
