Kato Daratso holidays
Holidays to Kato Daratso give you a handful of beaches and tavernas, just 10 minutes' drive from the island's second-biggest city.
Old-world charm
Just west of Chania, this coastal village still holds on to its rustic charm. Everything is spread along the beach, with a string of traditional tavernas on one side and olive groves on the other. The resort backs onto mountainous slopes, dotted with whitewashed villas.
Blue Flag beaches
A handful of beaches are within walking distance. There’s the main Kalamaki beach – a Blue Flag stretch of fine sand with shallow waters. A short stroll away, you’ll find another trio of coves. One of which has been christened Golden Beach, due to the colour of the sand.
Daytrips to Chania
Chania is just 10 minutes’ drive from Kato Daratso. There’s a modern part, but the Venetian old town is where you’ll find the historic sights. Down by the harbour, there’s an old lighthouse and fort, as well as a Turkish mosque. Landmarks-aside, the streets are lined with roofless houses-turned-restaurants and museums.
