Hotel Elysium

The Elysium is a 5* hotel with 5* service. The food choice is excellent and the breakfast and evening buffet offer a great selection which will suit most guests. This is our second stay and we had a two floor room overlooking the garden on the first stay, this time we have a regular room overlooking the tennis courts. The rooms are of a decent standard, the beds are very comfortable and the bathroom is small but adequate. Generally, there is little noise, avoid a connecting room as this does create more sound from the adjoining room, especially if they have young children. Plus points: the staff Lorena, Daniela, Marina and Cedric are a great and brilliant with customers. Lia is one to watch, capable of great things. We have watched her with other customers and her attention to detail, anticipating customers needs and friendly manner in diffusing a potential complaint and turning a negative into a positive for a customer is a skill that can’t be learnt. She’s a credit to the hotel. Cleaning and evening staff are lovely. The food - lovely choice although some obvious staples missing. Berries, cherries and a larger variety of fresh fruit would have been nice. Meat and carvery were delicious and a super selection of salads. There is a good mix in the customer base of this hotel. Older couples, middle aged and younger couples, some with children. Individual programmable, air conditioning units in each room. I notice not all 5* have this facility. Negative: the bath is a hazard. Narrow with high sides, it’s difficult to get out of without slipping and lets down the rooms. Water pressure is also poor. Arriving later than planned due to a delayed flight, there was a huge difference to arriving late afternoon. Our rooms weren’t cleaned the next day and there was confusion if we were “on the list.” Teabags not refilled which isn’t a catastrophe but welcome at the end of a day by the pool. The room issues were sorted quickly and I suspect caused by our late arrival. Had this been our first time at the hotel it may have coloured our visit. First impressions are vital. Bizarrely, absolutely hated the painting near the bed, screwed to the wall and couldn’t even throw a towel over it. Having stayed previously at Four Seasons and taken the time to look around other 5* hotels during our visit, Elysium’s high rating on TA is well deserved. If you are looking for a quality hotel in Paphos you will not regret the choice of staying here. Look at all hotels carefully, some 5* amenities can vary widely.

This is not a 5 star hotel. It is large,the pools are all shallow,the rooms small and especially the bathrooms. The breakfast disappointing in terms of a vast but poorly presented selection. The staff appeared friendly an d willing but the establishment needs investment.

Just returned from our 7th visit over 9 years, its great to see a lot of the staff are still the same! The hotel staff are so accommodating and will try their best to ensure you have a great stay. Cynthia, Guest Relations Manager goes out of her way every time to ensure my children (9,5 and 2) have everything they need as well as the adults in the party. Rachel in the Angels kids club can keep children entertained for hours, my girls are always so sad to leave her behind! The restaurants at the hotel cater for all tastes and the food is delicious, especially the salad starters. Daniela who is one of the hostesses is amazing and will help with anything she can. We really love this hotel, its location and especially the staff. We look forward to our 10th visit next May.
