Basilica Holiday Resort

We stayed at the Basilica on a room only basis - so can’t really comment on the food as they do also offer all inclusive. Well, from the minute we arrived the staff were lovely. We arrived late in the evening and as we checked in we were informed that the porter would be along to show us to our room. We initially found this odd, but the chap at reception explained there are three blocks of apartments so it stops you getting lost, which is a nice touch! Our apartment was booked as a double, so we expected a room with a basic kitchenette and not much else. How wrong we were... I’ve honestly lived in smaller flats! We had two bedrooms, a full lounge area, and the kitchen had a full size fridge freezer, oven, microwave, hob, kettle, dishwasher... the list goes on! We tend to spend little time at our hotel while abroad, as we prefer to be out and about to see what’s nearby than lounging by the pool all day, but the time we did spend on site was great. The pool is a great size, and when we turned up in the later part of the day for a dip we always found somewhere to sit and dry off afterwards. The location is great - a few minutes walk and you’re at the harbour and bus station. There’s a supermarket directly opposite and you can cut through a shopping precinct to the main sea path. All in all, a tip top hotel, we would certainly recommend it

Having just returned I thought I would share our experience with you all, In no particular order and just as I remember them these are our experiences of the hotel. Firstly after checking in and being shown to our room we found a plate of sandwiches, some fruit and bottled water in our fridge, nice touch, it was 23.00. The room itself was perfectly suitable for our needs, fully equipped for self catering although we were all inclusive, maybe one criticism though is that drawer space is very limited. The air con and the safe were both included in the price as was the late check out which we needed as our pickup time was 18.45, usually check out is 12.00, we had our room until 16.00. The food was perfectly edible and with plenty of choice at all mealtimes all but the most picky of eaters will find something to eat, always plenty of meats, salads etc even at breakfast time. The bar shuts promptly at 23.00 for all inclusive but stays open until 00.00 If you pay for your drinks for the last hour. Entertainment was of a standard that you would expect, cheesy but good fun none the less. David had a way of collaring guests to make up the numbers and to get the audience to participate, me included. On several occasions outside entertainment was brought in to make a change. All the staff are very obliging and nothing was too much trouble for anybody. Always plenty of loungers for those Sun worshippers amongst you and we had a voucher for towels to use by the pool. The rooms ae cleaned daily and fresh towels are put in the rooms daily. Location is perfect if you choose to go self catering as literally over the road is a large supermarket and you are only a 5 minute walk away from both the bus station and the harbour. The resort in general was very clean as was the hotel. Will we return, possibly, never say never as this was only our second visit to Cyprus, there is so much of the island we still would like to see.
