What to expect from Pissouri

Pissouri gives us serious postcode envy. It’s located halfway between Paphos and Limassol, around a 35-minute drive from both major towns. At the former, you’ve got Paphos harbour’s restaurants and bars to keep you topped up with Cypriot cuisine and tipples. And Aphrodite’s Rock is less than a 10-minute taxi ride away. This spot is also known as Petra you Romiou, or the ‘Rock of the Greek’, and is thought to be the birthplace of the Goddess of Love. The Limassol Roman ruins are within easy reach, too, as well as the Tombs of the Kings in Paphos. And there’s the amphitheatre at Kourion.

Beaches in Pissouri

Pissouri village vs Pissouri beach. It’s something many holiday-goers weigh up when planning a visit to this area, and for good reason. There’s a Blue Flag sand-and-shingle beach that’s over 1km long down by the coast, known as Pissouri Bay Beach, which features white cliffs and deep blue seas. Public sunbeds and umbrellas give you somewhere to work on your tan, and there’s a watersports centre where you can sign up for paddleboarding, sailing, kayaking and scuba diving. But the village has a lot going for it, too…

Restaurants in Pissouri

A leisurely stroll around the village centre will take you past lots of local bars and traditional tavernas, which whip up regional specialities with produce from nearby vegetable farms, vineyards and fishing hotspots. Lots of family-run eateries are based in the main square, where you can nab a table and rattle through all the traditional dishes. Mezze boards loaded with aubergine, souvlaki skewers and moussaka are all regular fixtures on restaurant menus, along with fresh seafood and halloumi cheese served with a glass or two of the local red wine.
