You can expect a pine-edged beach and pin-drop peaceful village on holidays to Srebreno. This Croatian seaside spot is right on Dubrovnik's doorstep, too.
Srebreno is a pocked-sized hamlet that curls around a bay just south of Dubrovnik. There’s not a lot going on, but that’s all part of its appeal – days here tend to revolve around either the pine-backed beach or the trail-laced mountains behind the village.
Srebreno’s beach is a thin curve of pebbles – pad out into the calm, shallow water and the shingle switches to sand. Running behind it is a pine-shaded promenade, along which you’ll find a handful of bars and cafés serving coffee and ice-cream.
The mountains that rise up behind Srebreno are carved with walking and hiking paths, which snake through shady forests of pine and agave trees. Further afield – about 15 minutes’ drive – is UNESCO-listed Dubrovnik. Its terracotta-roofed old town has a guidebook’s worth of sights tucked inside its walls, including palaces, monasteries and churches.
