Smugglers Cove holidays
Smugglers Cove holidays offer a comprehensive St Lucian resort experience. They combine idyllic white sands and jade-green hillsides with active pursuits like watersports, and duty-free shopping is also on the cards. The proximity to history-soaked landmarks and peppy city centres is a plus, too.
A great base for exploring St Lucia
When it comes to Smugglers Cove’s main selling points, its northernmost tip of St Lucia location is definitely one of them. This place is surrounded by a landscape of rainforest-covered hills, where jade-green shrubs spread out and beaches are framed by turquoise waters. The proximity to an 18-hole golf course and sea-view restaurants will appeal to putting pros and food fanatics, too. Plus, with nearby links to Gros Islet and the high-end hotels of the north, you can put island-hopping on your holiday itinerary.
Rodney Bay and Reduit Beach attractions
This place is just a 15-minute coastal drive from Rodney Bay – an activity hub, where you’ll find lots to keep you on your toes between sunbathing stints. Rodney Bay Marina highlights include bars, upmarket eateries, two major malls and a casino, and you can slip into your cozzie on Reduit Beach. It’s got lots of tempting features, like a three-mile-long stretch of sand, inflatable waterparks and full-day boat trips, which set off from the shoreline. The glass-clear water’s ideal for snorkelling, too.
Pigeon Island trails and pirate history
Take a 10-minute drive to Pigeon Island, a historic peninsula that spans 44 acres, and you’ll have a landscape of lush nature trails and secluded coves at your fingertips. This place went down in 18th-century history as a British Navy base used for spying on French ships, and there’s lots to look at if you fancy rewinding a few hundred years. We’re talking historical ruins, including Fort Rodney, and time-worn cannons. Be sure to look up its thematic buccaneer heritage if you’re into that sort of thing – Francois le Clerc or ‘Peg Leg’, the famous French pirate, used Pigeon Island as a hiding place in the 1500s.
