The starring role at the Haven Khao Lak goes to the swimming pool. It’s right by the beach and, at its longest, is 380 metres long.
The honey-hued sands of Khuk Khak Beach and a natural lagoon bookend this property, giving it a real out-of-the-way feel. What’s more, it’s about a 10-minute cab ride away from the town centre.
Looks-wise, there’s an east-meets-west feel about the complex. Traditional materials – thatched roofs and bamboo floors – are contrasted by contemporary furnishings, and in-room tech like 42-inch TVs.

WONDERFUL POOL WAITER SERVICE
Recently stayed at this great location with 5 special girlfriends on Luxury Escape package. Would like to make special mention of the great service we had around the pool from our attendant 'Thor'. Always there to serve us with cocktails and provided recommendations on food too. Made our stay so enjoyable. K.More
We booked this hotel through Luxury Escapes and unfortunately found out that it is not as advertised We booked this trip 6 months in advance however we were still given rooms in the worst position in the hotel and were adamantly told we could not move. In Summation - The Hotel is tired and needing refreshed - The stairs to and from the rooms are unsettling potentially unusable by some people - The Hotel is isolated - There is only one restaurant We have travelled throughout Thailand over the past 12 years and The Haven is NOT a luxury hotel. It must be said that the hotel management at The Haven were not in the least interested in resolving the issues. We were told abruptly that if we left early there would be no compensation and it was still worth leaving early. We left four days early to go to another hotel we knew in Bangtao. The hotel we booked at short notice, is not classified as a luxury hotel and is still superior to The Haven. This is the first time we have used Luxury Escapes and would suggest being very careful and research thoroughly, before booking anything with Luxury Escapes. We were very disappointedMore
The most fabulous pool and amazing staff
Like most of the holiday makers we were on a Luxury Escapes package for 8 nights. We had a pool access room which was fabulous. The rooms were enormous and the bed was extremely comfortable. The rooms may be looking a little tired but this is the tropics and everything ages faster. |The water pressure in our shower was not great but really the only minor complaint we had and not one that we were bothered about. Breakfast buffet was more than ample for us. It may have been angled a bit towards Asian foods but plenty of choices of cereal, juices, fresh fruits and the usual bacon and sausages. The omelettes were great as were the buttery croissants. Try the coconut jam it is lovely. The meals at the restaurant which were included in our package were a bit disappointing but the food served at the pool appeared to be better although we didn't eat much after the buffet breakfasts.. There are plenty of restaurants just up the road if you fancy a walk or you can ask reception to ring Lay's and they will send a driver who will return you to the hotel after your meal. They do this free of charge but felt it was right to give a tip to the driver. Jack at reception is very helpful and friendly as are the other staff. Bewty at the coffee shop was lovely too. The pina colada's at Lays are the best I have had in a very long time and great value for money as are the meals. Took the free hotel shuttle into Khao Lak for a bit of shopping and if you want to make your own way back it is only 300 bht to get back to the hotel. The shuttle driver was very friendly and always smiling. The best thing about this hotel was that it was quiet and there were plenty of pool lounges so no problem getting one which was a pleasant change from some of the hotels in Asia we have stayed in. The massages included in this package were great but one word of warning if you are having a Thai massage make sure you remove the pillow when you are laying face down. Had the unpleasant experience of having a pinched nerve in my neck from one of the massages as I didn't do this and the young lady doing my massage put her full body weight onto my back. Probably should have asked for a soft massage at my age!!! There were free activities available at the hotel from yoga and stretch classes to towel folding and hair braiding. Didn't partake in these but next time will definitely spend more time doing and less time relaxing. All in all we had an amazing time and will definitely be back.More

Not perfect but still very good.
We booked through Luxury Escapes but couldn't get a pool access room for the dates we wanted to travel, so we were a little apprehensive about staying in the Deluxe Room. We needn't have worried, it was a beautiful room with nice views of the huge gardens and pools. Sure there were steps to get to the room but after the size of some of the breakfasts I had, a few more steps wouldn't have hurt! I'll break down the review into categories: TRANSFER: We received a transfer from the airport as part of our package and the car was roomy and thankfully air conditioned with complimentary water for the one hour drive. CHECK-IN: Fast, efficient and simple. No issues despite us arriving at around 11pm. We found all staff there over our stay to be very helpful including organising a birthday cake (complimentary) and a dozen roses delivered to our room. ROOM: beautiful large room with a nice bathroom and super comfy King size bed and a balcony overlooking the pools. TV had various Fox channels including sports and movies. Wi-Fi was okay, but could become a bit hit n miss at different times of the day. FOOD: Breakfast buffet was great, a rotating roster of dishes with an egg station and table coffee service. The food is nice, the staff is exceptional. We got room service may times when we didn’t feel like going out for dinner and the food quality was very good, and very reasonably priced for room service. The Vangole restaurant was also good despite things I’d read on TA. POOLS: Just amazing, you can swim for kilometres and yes, there might be the odd missing tile but for pools this size they were great, staff were constantly cleaning them and the water temperature was perfect. The swim up bars for cocktails and food are brilliant, happy hour is at 4pm but the drinks seem weaker in alcohol during that period. GYM/ACTIVITIES: The gym is well stocked with free weights, cardio machines and a 4 station weight machine with great views of the main pool and Andaman Sea. The three guys working activities were brilliant, organising water polo, beach volleyball and all sorts of other activities daily. SPA: My wife went for a few massages before we had a couples massage and it was extremely relaxing. The girls there did a good job. VALUE: Unbelievable! Compared to previous holidays in other countries, the Haven ( and Thailand in general) is hard to beat. Bang for your buck for food, drink and accommodation makes this place a winner. If I could give this place 4 and a half I would have, there are a few small things that weren’t perfect but the value, staff, pools and relaxed vibe make the Haven an easily recommendable place to stay.More
Worst service and hospitality management in hotel history!
We were on a south-east Asia trip with a lot of sightseeing and decided to end our travel in Khao Lak with a relaxing week. The great reviews the Haven got, we decided to come here. We book a normal room including breakfast. Approx. two weeks before we were supposed to fly there i got a mail from the hotel, that they offer an upgrade to the private pool bungalows for a special price. As it was very expensive we decided to take the opportunity and upgrade only for the half of our stay. We also reserved the transfer from the airport in Phuket, which was pretty expensive compared to local taxi prices. But we wanted to be in the save side as we arrived quite late. From then everything went wrong! When we arrived at the airport there was no one to pick us up. When I called the reception the first 3 guys to whom I talked didn’t speak English. When the fourth guy said, we were at the wrong place and send us around the airport. Later we found out that the driver wasn’t even there yet and they just tried to save time! In the end we were standing in the rain for more than one hour waiting for the shuttle. The 1 hour drive to Khao Lak was then delayed because our driver was stopping somewhere mid-way l, left the car without any explanation and just came back 30 minutes later... finally arriving at the hotel our room was still not ready (midnight!) we were asked to wait. Requesting then to speak to the manager on duty, a lady arrived, towed us to get our luggage (which we had to drag ourselves to the room!!!) and left us in front of the beach villa with no explanation of the facilities or when and where we can have breakfast the next day! The next morning we spoke to the guest relation manager a guy from Italy who said sorry and offered us a massage (30 minutes). We asked instead for an free upgrade for the remaking days in the villa, which he said he needed to check and asked us to come back the next day. We went back to the villa and in daylight saw that the cleaning lady didn’t do her job properly! We ordered room service for lunch and the plates remained on our table for 2 days in row... disgusting! When we saw the guest relation manager again, he said we would have the upgrade, but therefore needed to sign an agreement that we would post any of our complains at TripAdvisor or another recommendation platform for hotels. We were surprised by this, but this was not the end! 5 minutes later he came which a bill we should sign. So they planned to charge us for the upgrade!! With that we left and tried to stay most time outside of the hotel! Apart from this the waiters and cleaning ladies all were just annoyed that they had clean or take orders! I never saw so much unmotivated and unfriendly staff in one places. Furthermore we weren’t aware that the normal rooms have no real access to the surrounding pool. Only to the main one. Which was closed for 2 days for an event. And there are also no lifts m, just stairs to get to the rooms. Very uncomfortable when you have a lot of luggage. Our summary is that the hotel could be nice if they would take care of their guests, trying to be friendly and helping them! We can’t recommend this hotel to anyone! Stay away if you wish a relaxing holiday! More
