What's great about Patras cruises?

Patras gives you a taste of authentic Greece. It's the country's third-biggest city, but has managed to stay largely under the tourist radar, which means fewer crowds but just as many sights. There's a handful of museums to check out, with exhibits ticking off everything from art to archaeology. The old city's home to colourful Neoclassical mansions and a Medieval castle with widescreen views of the city below. And if you fancy resting your legs for a bit, you can kick back at Spinney – a pine tree-covered hill with plenty of natural shade.

• Head to the Medieval castle to take in sweeping views of Patras and the sea from above – it was built on the site of an ancient Acropolis.
• Check out the canary-coloured Church of St Andrew and the nearby Spring of St Andrew, which pours out holy water.
• Tick off the 2nd-century Roman Odeon. It's been rebuilt and restored over the years, and regained its original shape in the 1950s.
