Can I check in online?

Yes, online check-in is available for all TUI customers who are travelling on TUI flights - these are the ones with flight numbers beginning TOM.

Flying on another airline?

Because you're flying with another airline, you will need to check in online on that airline’s website.

To log into the airline website you will be asked for your flight reference number. Please note, this is not the same as your TUI booking reference. Your flight reference number will be a 6-character alpha-numeric code and can be found on your booking confirmation, e-ticket or in manage my booking on the TUI website.

Can I check in online if I'm travelling with a baby?

TUI flights
Yes - little ones under two years old will have their own boarding pass but won't be allocated a seat. They'll get an individual baggage allowance of 10kg which will be shown on their boarding pass.

Only certain seats are available for adults travelling with a child under two. These seats will be marked with an 'i' on the seat assignment page. If none of these seats are available, you'll need to contact us so we can look into this for you.

Flights with other airlines
This varies depending on who you're flying with. You'll be given details as you go through the online check in process. The same service as TUI is also available for the following airlines:

Air Europa, Albastar, ASL Airlines France, ASL Airlines Ireland, Evelop Airlines, Germania, Norwegian, Travel Service, Volotea.

Can I reprint my boarding pass if it's lost or damaged?

Yes, most airlines will allow you to reprint your boarding passes.

If you're travelling with TUI log in to the Flight Extras website and if you've already checked-in, you'll see a print button. Click this and your boarding passes will appear, ready for reprinting. You'll be able to do this up to 6 hours before your outward flight, or up to 25 hours before your return flight. You'll need to print each boarding pass clearly on an individual piece of A4 paper.

If it's later than this and you need a new copy of your boarding passes, you can collect them from the TUI bag drop desk or at the check in desk of your airline when you arrive at the airport. The service is also available for the following airlines:

Air Europa, Albastar, ASL Airlines France, ASL Airlines Ireland, Evelop Airlines, Germania, Norwegian, Travel Service, Volotea.

Do I have to pay to check in online?

No - TUI's online check-in is completely free to use and can be accessed via our Flight Extras website. It also includes the following airlines: Air Europa, Albastar, ASL Airlines France, ASL Airlines Ireland, Evelop Airlines, Germania, Norwegian, Travel Service, Volotea.

Flights with other airlines

Some of the partner and non-TUI airlines we use may charge you for checking In at the airport, so it is best to check in online in advance. See our other airlines FAQs for more detailed information on your flight

Do I need to print my boarding pass if I check in online?

TUI, Air Europa, Albastar, ASL Airlines France, ASL Airlines Ireland, Evelop Airlines, Germania, Norwegian, Travel Service and Volotea flights
Yes, you'll need to print each boarding pass clearly on an individual piece of A4 paper. The barcode on the pass will need to be scanned at the airport, so the page mustn't have any rips or tears. Your boarding pass is an official security document, so you'll need to keep it safe until you reach your destination. Just so you know, we can't accept any unclear, faded or blurry boarding passes.

If you can't print your boarding passes, you can collect them from the TUI bag drop desk when you arrive at the airport.

Do I need to print the payment confirmation page if I've bought extras or upgrades?

TUI flights and for the following airlines:
Air Europa, Albastar, ASL Airlines France, ASL Airlines Ireland, Evelop Airlines, Germania, Norwegian, Travel Service, Volotea.

No, we'll send you an email confirmation to the email address you gave us on the My Booking page. It'll include details of what you've bought and the amount you've paid.

How does mobile check-in work?

If you're flying with TUI, you can now select your seats and check in on the go using your mobile device. TUI flight numbers begin with TOM.

Simply log in to Flight Extras to select or upgrade your seats, provide your API information, and check in for your round trip.

If mobile boarding passes are available for your route, you'll just need to save these to your smartphone. Once you get to the airport, show them to our staff at the bag drop desk, security, at the boarding gate, and to our cabin crew onboard the aircraft. That said, if you'd prefer to use paper boarding passes, you can print them off from the PDF attachment that we'll email to you. You'll need to print each boarding pass clearly on an individual piece of A4 paper.

If you can't print your boarding passes, you can collect them from any TUI Holiday Store, or from the TUI bag drop desk when you arrive at the airport.

If mobile boarding passes aren't available on your route, you'll need to print them off from the PDF attachment that we email to you, and take them with you when you travel.

If you'd like us to email your boarding passes to you again once you've checked in, you can log back in to the website and select the resend option at any time.

How do I check in online?

If your flight has a TOM or BY flight number, online check-in's really easy to use. If you’ve upgraded to Premium, Extra Legroom seats or Extra Space seats, or chosen the Select Your Seat option, online check-in will open 14 days prior to your departure. If not, it’ll open 48 hours prior to your departure.

Just so you know, in either case, you’ll need to check in for your outbound and inbound flights separately. Online check-in closes six hours before your flight departure time.

Log in to Manage My Booking with your flight booking reference, the surname of the lead passenger and your departure date, and select 'check-in'.

If you're flying with one of our TUI partner airlines or a non-TUI airline please see our Flying with other Airlines FAQs for what to do.

I'm on the My Booking page. When I click on Check-in, nothing happens - what's going wrong?

TUI flights
Firstly, make sure that you've entered your email address in the lead customer email box at the top of the page. This is the address that we'll use to send confirmation of your selected seats, any extras you book and any special assistance you request.

If you can't click on the Check-in button, it means that online check-in isn't open for your flight yet. Online check-in opens 72 hours before your outward flight
departing the UK and 72 hours before your return flight.

Please contact us if you're having difficulty in checking in online.

This also applies if you're flying with the following airlines:

- Air Europa (flight prefix AEA)
- Albastar (flight prefix JQ)
- ASL Airlines France (flight prefix FPO)
- ASL Airlines Ireland (flight prefix ABR)
- Evelop Airlines (flight prefix EVE)
- Germania (flight prefix ST)
- Norwegian (flight prefix D8)
- Travel Service (flight prefix QS)
- TUI operated by Norwegian (flight prefix BY)
- Volotea (flight prefix VOE)

I'm trying to check in online, but I'm getting a message saying Check in at the Airport. Why is this?

TUI flights
This means that online check-in isn't available for your booking. It doesn't happen very often, but it means you'll need to pick up your boarding passes from the TUI bag drop desk when you get to the airport.

This will also apply for the following airlines:
Air Europa, Albastar, ASL Airlines France, ASL Airlines Ireland, Evelop Airlines, Germania, Norwegian, Travel Service and Volotea

I've checked-in online from my smartphone. How do I save or print my boarding passes?

TUI flights

You'll find your boarding passes at the bottom of the check-in confirmation email that we send you once you've checked in online from your smartphone.
If mobile boarding passes are available on your route, you'll receive these as well as a printable PDF. When you get to the airport, you can either show your mobile boarding passes, or a printout of the PDF. That said, mobile boarding passes aren't available on all routes - if they're not available, you'll need to print the PDF.

Printable boarding passes

You'll find these in the PDF attachment that we'll email to you. The attachment can be printed, copied or emailed. You'll need to print off the boarding passes and take them with you when you travel. You'll need to print each boarding pass clearly on an individual piece of A4 paper.

If you can't print your boarding passes, you can collect them from any TUI Holiday Store, or from the TUI bag drop desk when you arrive at the airport.

Mobile boarding passes

You'll see these as 'pkpass' files - there'll be a separate file for each passenger and each flight. Tap one of the files to open the boarding pass, and select to 'add all'. Doing this will save all your mobile boarding passes to your phone.

If you have any problems saving or printing boarding passes from your smartphone, you can print them by visiting our Flight Extras website from your desktop or laptop. Alternatively, visit any TUI Holiday Store, where we'll be happy to help.

I've heard there are new airport scanners that mean some hand luggage restrictions are lifted, is this correct?

While UK airports are installing new scanners to prepare for changes in security restrictions, at this time you should still follow current guidelines as not all airports have changed* and destination airports still have these restrictions in place for your flight home. Check government hand luggage restrictions at UK airports and at Irish airports for more details about medical and dietary exceptions.

*We recommend you check your departure airport website for their most up-to-date security advice.

I couldn't print my boarding pass when I checked in online. Can I print it later?

I didn't check in online before my outward flight. Can I still check-in online for my flight home?

If your flight has a TOM or BY flight number, yes, you'll still be able to check in online before your return flight, or you've got the option of checking in at the airport.

Online check-in closes 6 hours before departure time. Click here to access online check-in.

Once you’ve checked in you can print out or download your boarding passes onto your phone, via the TUI app.

I have received an error message while trying to check in online for my TUI flight. What should I do?

If you encounter an error during online check-in, this may be due to an issue with our systems, or simply restrictions from your destination of travel. Please don't worry, head to the TUI check-in counter upon arrival at the airport where our TUI Team will validate your travel documents, collect your bags and issue your boarding passes. No need to contact us, we can check you in at the airport, free of charge.

Check-in opens at least two-and-half hours before departure for short and mid-haul flights, and at least three-and-a-half hours before departure for long-haul flights.

What happens if I can't check in online?

TUI flights
If you're having trouble checking in online, the lead passenger on your booking can visit any TUI Holiday Store for help. They can also help to print your boarding passes, but this may come at an extra charge.

Remember to bring the passports for all passengers on your booking, along with your TUI booking reference.

The same service is also available for flights with our chartered airlines*. If you see a pop-up during the booking process that says you’ll need to collect your boarding passes from the airport, then we won’t be able to help in a TUI Store. If you see this message, you’ll need to visit one of the TUI bag drop desks at the airport to collect them.

Flying with other airlines
If you're not flying with one of our chartered airlines*, please see our How do I check in online if I'm not flying with TUI FAQ.

*Our chartered airlines are Air Europa, Albastar, ASL Airlines France, ASL Airlines Ireland, Evelop Airlines, Germania, Norwegian, Travel Service, TUI operated by Norwegian, and Volotea.

What happens if I don't check in online?

TUI flights
If you don't check in online for your holiday, you'll be able to do this when you get to the airport, and we'll allocate your seats from what's remaining. However, just so you know, we reserve the right to levy a charge for airport check-in.

The same service is also available for the following airlines:

Air Europa, Albastar, ASL Airlines France, ASL Airlines Ireland, Evelop Airlines, Germania, Norwegian, Travel Service, Volotea.

To access online check-in, please visit our Flight Extras website.

Flights with other airlines
You'll be able to check in when you get to the airport if you're flying with Aer Lingus. However, if you're flying with easyJet, you'll only be able to check in online, and you'll need to pay extra to check in at the desk with Jet2.

When does online Check-in close?

If your flight has a TOM or BY flight number online check-in closes 6 hours before the scheduled departure time for flights from the UK and Ireland.

For your return flight, online check-in closes 6 hours before departure time.

To check in online, please visit our Manage My Booking or the TUI app

When does Online check-in open?

Flying with TUI Airways on a TOM or BY flight number?

If you've upgraded to Premium, Extra Legroom seats or Extra Space seats, or chosen the Select Your Seat option, online check-in will open 14 days prior to your departure. If not, it'll open 48 hours prior to your departure. Just so you know, in either case, you'll need to check in for your outbound and inbound flights separately. Online check-in closes six hours before your flight departure time. If you'd like to select or upgrade your seat after you've booked, please visit Manage My Booking or the TUI app to check in for your flight.

Flying on another airline?

Online check in times can vary depending on the airline you are flying with. Please check the other airline’s website for more information on when their online check in opens.

Which documents do I need to take to the airport if I've checked in online?

TUI flights
You'll need to bring your home printed boarding pass or confirmation of check-in document and your passport to show before you board the plane.

The same service is also available for the following airlines:
Air Europa, Albastar, ASL Airlines France, ASL Airlines Ireland, Evelop Airlines, Germania, Norwegian, Travel Service, Volotea.

Your boarding pass
When you check in online, you'll get boarding passes or Confirmation of Check In for both your outward and return flights. You'll need to print out each boarding pass on its own individual A4 page. If you can't print them, you can collect them from the TUI bag drop desk or at the desk of your airline when you arrive at the airport.

If you're unsure why you received a Confirmation of Check-in rather than a Boarding Pass please see "Why did I get a Confirmation of Check-in document instead of a boarding pass when I checked in online?"

Your boarding pass will have a barcode that needs to be scanned, so there should be no rips and tears in it. It's an official security document, so you'll need to keep it safe until you've arrived at your destination. We can't accept any unclear, faded or blurry boarding passes, and we reserve the right to deny boarding or cancel your reservation if you don't have the documentation you need.

If you can't print your boarding passes, you can collect them from any TUI Holiday Store, or from the TUI bag drop desk when you arrive at the airport.

Why did I get a confirmation of check-in document instead of a boarding pass when I checked in online?

If you're travelling with TUI or any of the airlines listed below just to the USA, Mexico, Jamaica, Cuba, Costa Rica or Thailand, you'll get a Confirmation of Check-in document which you'll need to print at home, instead of the usual boarding pass. This is because of the different regulations for travelling to these countries or travelling with another airline.

- Air Europa (flight prefix AEA)
- Albastar (flight prefix JQ)
- ASL Airlines France (flight prefix FPO)
- ASL Airlines Ireland (flight prefix ABR)
- Evelop Airlines (flight prefix EVE)
- Germania (flight prefix ST)
- Norwegian (flight prefix D8)
- Travel Service (flight prefix QS)
- TUI operated by Norwegian (flight prefix BY)
- Volotea (flight prefix VOE)

What you need to do
If you've got a Confirmation of Check-in document, it means you're checked-in, with your seat numbers and baggage confirmed. However, you'll need to go to one of the Airline bag drop desks when you get to the airport to swap your Confirmation of Check-in document for boarding passes. You'll need the boarding pass when you go through security.

If you can't print the confirmation of check-in document, please go to the Airline bag drop desk when you arrive at the airport, and you'll be given your boarding passes.
