Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valetta, Malta

Paradise Bay holidays are ideal if you’re looking for a tranquil island getaway in a relaxing part of north Malta. They put beaches with Blue Flag status and miles of Mediterranean countryside at your fingertips, and you can spot Comino and Gozo down by the sea.

What to expect from Paradise Bay

It might surprise you to learn that Paradise Bay flaunts a clifftop location. This aptly named holiday hotspot is perched on Malta’s northern tip, surrounded by greenery and Mediterranean hiking trails. But it’s not so far up that beach days need to go in your holiday itinerary well in advance – there’s a staircase built into a rock face, which lets you access the soda-white sands that people flock to the Paradise Bay resort for. Down there, you’ll also find PADI-certified diving centre facilities, which take adventure-seekers on snorkel-clad trips in the Mediterranean Sea. Happier on dry land? Stay on the shore and admire the vistas of Comino and Gozo, the two neighbouring islands.

Things to do in Paradise Bay

Paradise Bay might be known for its luxury hotels, but there’s plenty to keep you busy beyond the beach. You can tuck in to authentic Maltese cuisine at the local restaurants, chill out at the Paradise Bay lido, or make the most of the hotel facilities – think outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts and a games room for when you fancy a bit of friendly competition. And if you want a change of scene, the 10‑minute drive to Mellieha is well worth it for its romantic Mediterranean tavernas, lively bars and little souvenir shops where you can pick up something local to take home.

Daytrips to Valletta and Gozo

Paradise Bay’s in a prime spot for exploring Malta, with easy daytrips right on your doorstep. Valletta – Malta’s UNESCO-listed capital – is a 45‑minute drive away, and it’s well worth the trip. Built by the Knights Hospitallers in the 16th century, it’s packed with Baroque architecture, grand churches and winding Medieval streets. You’re also just a short stroll from the Cirkewwa ferry terminal for Gozo island excursions, where ancient Mediterranean ruins await.Comino boat trips set off nearby, too, making it super simple to explore the coastline, the Blue Lagoon, and Malta’s little sister islands in one go.
