Best time to go to Helsinki
Say Finland and most people will picture frozen tundra, snow-capped forests and thickly iced lakes. But Helsinki, one of the most southern of Finland’s tourist destinations and the country’s capital city, tells another story. Temperatures in Helsinki in the summer can top 30°C, so you’d be wise to pack your summer suitcase if you’re visiting in July and August. Saying that, the winters are a very different kettle of fish, with heavy snow and temperatures that drop below freezing, particularly in December, January and February.
