Sun and sand

Skanes is a purpose-built, eastern-coast resort. The balmy Mediterranean climate makes it a popular holiday spot and a string of plush hotels have taken root along the seafront, facing a white-sand beach. The labyrinthine medinas and souks of Sousse and Monastir are less than 10 minutes’ drive away.

Activity-packed

Aside from watersports at the beach, there are plenty of things to do in Skanes. You can play 18 holes at the Palm Links Golf Club, go quad biking over silvery sand dunes, or saddle up on a camel and explore the countryside. And the Safari shopping centre has a supermarket, plus a handful of well-stocked gift shops. They sell everything from buckets and spades to Berber rugs under one roof.

Nearby neighbours

Just a 10-minute drive away is the town of Monastir. It has a great choice of restaurants and a souk overflowing with Moorish souvenirs. In the other direction is Sousse, where there’s a UNESCO-protected medina dating back 3,000 years.
