Soufriere holidays

Soufriere, St Lucia

Holidays to Soufriere offer one of the best views on the island, with dramatic mountain peaks, and rainforest rolling out as far as the eye can see.

A patchwork culture

European, Indian and African influences all blend together in this sleepy, west coast fishing village. So, by day, you can wander past brightly-coloured houses with traditional old French architecture style. And by night, tuck into East Indian fare with a dash of British flavour. Elsewhere, you’ll find colonial plantations, lofty rainforest and luxury hotels, making Soufriere a great option for a Caribbean getaway with plenty of culture thrown in.

Mountain backdrop

In Soufriere, it’s all eyes on the two volcanic plugs which rise out of the turquoise sea. They’re called Gros Piton and Petit Piton, which literally mean ‘big peak’ and ‘little peak’ in English. They’ve got the UNESCO seal of approval and are home to loads of rare plants and animals, coral reefs and sulphurous hot springs.

Adrenaline-fuelled adventures

It might be a sleepy fishing town, but Soufriere has its fair share of opportunities for adventurers. For starters, there’s ziplining and jungle biking, and the new kid on the block, snuba. This snorkel-scuba hybrid lets you plunge almost as deep as a scuba diver, without the need for lessons. After you’ve resurfaced, jump onto a catamaran and head out to sea. You can even visit neighbouring Martinique.
