This adults-only hotel leads its debut with a prime beach position and four à la carte restaurants.
Soft white sand comes to your doorstep at this beachfront hotel. There’s a relaxed vibe to the place, though it’s just 10 minutes’ drive from Montego Bay and its line-up of shops, restaurants and nightlife.
The hotel sits next door to the Riu Montego Bay and, as such, you can move between the two for bars and restaurants. When it comes to the huge pool, though, you’ll probably want to stay put.

We did a five day vacation, what made our stay at the Riu enjoyable was the excellent staff, special mention to Sophie the house keeping supervisor and Ricardo at the front desk. We booked last minute for our 25 th anniversary. We informed sunwing at booking, when we got to front desk at check in we asked if there were any perks for ones celebrating their anniversary? The answer was yes but you need proof! We did not bring proof, their response was that's too bad no free upgrade. Our vacation did not get off to a good start, my husband was not happy! We asked at front desk why we did not get itinerary on bus? The lady at the front desk called Sunwing. While on the phone to Sunwing I asked asked why they never told us we needed to bring proof of wedding certificate. Never really got a solution from Sunwing, but we had not realized Ricardo (supervisor at the front desk) was listening to the conversation. One hour later we received a call in the room from Ricardo he said he had 2 other rooms for us to look at, it wasn't beach front but sure was a lot better than rooftop view. Sophie came to make up the new room while we're in it. Her positive attitude put us in a great mood, she said tomorrow will be better day. It was nice to be able to communicate and joke with the whole staff since they all spoke English. All the staff were so pleasant and helpful. They always greeted us. The restaurants were small but service was top notch. Staff were always cleaning. Beach was a bit small for husband ( he likes walking the beach a couple hours each way , not here. No seaweed water warm at beach and pools. It was an awesome vacation and we would definitely go back.More
First, thanks to all who have posted reviews. They were very helpful to read in advance of our stay at the Riu Palace Jamaica last week. A couple of clarifications -- room service menu is definitely limited, but you can get a full breakfast through room service if you call after 7:00 am. I had made-to-order omelets every day with anything else you want delivered that is available on the breakfast buffet including carafes of coffee. Also, dinner buffet one night included lobster and I had a few! I also enjoyed the filet mignon and lobster at the Steak House. There are 3 public restrooms on the resort: lobby + near Hanover Pool Bar + near Lime Pool Bar. Everything is so close and I absolutely loved that about this resort. It is so easy to walk from your room to Vogue Bar in lobby or to the Aqua Bar, or to the ocean, or to any of the 3 pools, or to any of the restaurants. The walk to the sister properties on either side is also very close and worth a visit for a drink or show or casino or swim or jerk chicken.... so many options when you stay at the Palace. HOWEVER, as many have reported, the Palace was mostly older couples (myself included) so it you're single and ready to mingle, you might consider accommodations at the Riu Reggae instead which is also adult-only. We celebrated our 25th anniversary and because we brought our marriage certificate, were upgraded to an Oceanfront Jacuzzi Suite (we had booked an Oceanfront Jr Suite). Would love to return!More
I really cannot fault this hotel and I’m usually quite picky. The room was by far the best room iv ever stopped in, clean, modern, very spacious. You were given bath robes and daily mini bar restock of alcohol and soft drinks..not the cheap stuff either! And the jacuzzi bath tub was a regular for me every morning, so relaxing. The food once again the best selection of food iv ever had the pleasure of. Breakfast had everything and more than you could ask for, from full English with every sort egg, pancakes/ waffles, smoothies to freshly cooked omelettes. Lunch was a buffet style but all seemed fresh, we tended to go for the barbecued jerk chicken.. it is Jamaica after all. And then evening meals take your pick three course meals at 4 different style restaurants and to be honest some of these meals were better than the fancy restaurants I pay for at home! No waiting or booking required. There is also a evening buffet which we didn’t try because we didn’t feel the need. The pools were beautiful infinity pools with gorgeous views of the beach. The beach is private for the riu palace only and for that reason is a little small but you can use any of the 3 riu hotel beach’s. We also took advantage of the free water sports on the beach, very fun. I was a little surprised that the sea wasn’t clear blue water you usually expect in the Caribbean however. Lastly the staff, they were fantastic. I’m one of these people that are pretty boring and like to chill and I don’t really get involved in day activities but the entertainment staff took the time to say hello and have a chat with all guests through the day whether you participated or not. There were plenty of games and music etc though the day. We particularly enjoyed watching Kash, very entertaining. Restaurant, waiters and bar staff always went beyond there selves to help, even remembering your cocktail orders. The cocktails by the way perfect!!!!! Everything was waiter service I never went to the bar once. The only thing I think people may moan about is the evening entertainment being abit quite but your at a adults only hotel and your more than welcome again to go to any of the 3 riu hotels which have more going on at night in the evening to sample there entertainment so it suited us fine. As a whole it was the most relaxing holiday in a beautiful place. I would 100% return in the future when visiting Montego Bay! Thanks!More
I’m writing this on our last full day at the riu palace Jamaica in Montego Bay , sat by the Hanover pool. It was our first time to Jamaica but have previously stayed in other riu palace in Dom rep. I had read all reviews I could the good and the bad. And all I can say is it’s all good here yahmon! We travelled with tui uk from Manchester on 30th sept , in the premium club, good flight but a bumpy landing into sangster international airport weather was cloudy and dull and my first thought was what have I done . After having many sunny and warm arrivals in Dom rep. We had book the vip arrival and departure package from club mobay. Even though there were no long queues I felt it was a great advantage in a unfamiliar airport. We got through quite quickly we didn’t get to use the arrival lounge much has our transfer was waiting for us. It takes approx 10 mins in taxi to the Hotel, the bellman greeted us and shook our hands and directed us to reception. We found the reception staff very welcoming and explained everything in our welcome pack and you get a glass of cava while checking in.. Our room was what tui uk describe has limited seaview room. But I had emailed the hotel a week before arrival to request an high floor on quiet side of Hotel. They can’t guarentee special requests but we got 3026 on top floor on the quieter side of the hotel and view was pretty good. Beware not to get a room above the aqua bar could get noisy of an evening. Food and dinning here is excellent. The quality and service very much 10 out of 10. The buffet is excellent, we did 3 of the 4 a la carte, the Japanese, Italian and the steakhouse. Took 3 attempts to get in the steakhouse but we found although nice wasn’t worth the 3 attempts. We did the Italian twice. And Japanese once. Look out for jovan in the Italian he will look after you. But the buffet even though you have to get your own food I still found it could be a nice place to dine esp on the terrace Camille and Neville will look after you very well Breakfast and lunch was at the seaside buffet. Again cannot fault it. Look out for audley he’s a complete star . And again will look after you very well along with Prisscilla. Javane will keep you well watered at the Hanover pool . That’s the liveliest of the 3 pools but even if you don’t want to join in it’s fun to watch. The entertainment could be considered low key compared to other riu palaces no big production shows they have them next door at the riu reggae and riu Montego Bay. But the white party and beach party are entertaining. You have access to bars and buffet at two sister properties Overall this hotel and holiday has been one of the best we have ever had in carribean and has raised the bar high. The management is visible Daily not hid behind a desk , all staff are happy and welcoming they say there are no problems in Jamaica only situations and there’s definatly NO situations at the riu palace Jamaica everything thing is irie The first thing they say to you on arrival is at the riu palace Jamaica you are the kings and queens. And you are definitely treated has such. Would we return and would we reccomend most definatly YAHMON😎😎More
Love this place!!!
Riu palace is amazing and the staff are so hard working. My family and I stayed for two weeks in September and didn't want to leave.. From the moment you enter the building everyone was so friendly and helpful Checkin was a breeze welcome drinks given, information about the hotel and wristbands/ towel cards Rooms were very spacious and clean, housekeeping visited our room twice a day no problem, we also had our drinks restocked once a day, big comfy beds to Food was nice large variety, their is something for everyone Shout out to Horris, Junior, Oscar, Ann Marie,Jamie, cash wonderful staff friendly I'm not a big alcohol drinker but everything I liked was available The best beach was at the palace the sea was clear only problem was the shade, umbrellas or more trees needed!! nightly entertainment was good, finished quite early but as palace guests you can head over to reggae or the main Rui It's easy to get transport outside the main gate and cheap to get around Overall we've stayed at few resorts in Montego Bay and this place suits us just fine, definitely going back next year Thank you for making our vacation perfectMore
